Summary
The last thing Giyū saw was the horrible creature known as Muzan crawling away to another part of their quickly crumbling world, taking the hashira who could still fight with him, and the bodies of those who no longer couldn't, behind him. Giyū was the latter, trying to stand up even through the sea of blood at his feet. He was dying.
Why was this happening? Wasn't the slayer mark supposed to boost his survival?
Turns out, it did. Maybe a little too well.
Fate had once again chosen the wrong person to save, Giyū thought, back in his thirteen year old body, staring at his dead childhood friend right in the face. Tanjiro would have been so much better at time travel.

Summary
The claws are sharp and rough, splintering as they force their way into Giyuu's skin. Tanjiro's face is twisting in a way it shouldn't, in a way Giyuu didn't think possible. The demon blood, Muzans blood, is destroying him. Everything Tanjiro fought for, everything he believed in, is in tatters at his feet.
Or: Giyuu dies and gets reborn during his final selection. He isn't the only one.

Summary
Inside the HQ, soft white lights hummed above as Giyuu Tomioka, the Water Pillar, typed out a mission report. Her haori draped neatly over the back of her chair, the office scent faintly like ink and rain. Most of the others were out—Ubuyashiki’s descendants had modernized the operations, but the danger remained the same.
Her phone buzzed on the desk.
Giyuu blinked, slightly startled at the sudden vibration cutting through the calm hum of computers and air conditioning. She glanced down.
Incoming call: Sanemi.
A small smile tugged at her lips. Without thinking, she answered and put it on loudspeaker, still sorting through documents.
“Hey,” she said softly, waiting for that usual rough, half-grumbled term of endearment—something that only he could make sound affectionate.
But silence answered her.

Sabito backs up from the table a little, presses his hands against the floor in front of him, and bows so deeply that his forehead almost brushes the tatami.
“Please take me as your husband.”
Giyū’s glad that Sabito waited until after he’d finished eating, because otherwise he would have probably choked on something in surprise.
