Juhoon suddenly can’t hear anything, which is strange, because he swears Martin was just rambling on about the dance studio on campus, and it makes no sense for the excited chattering from the students around them to have just stopped completely. Something louder than his friend, the students, and the loud traffic surrounding the campus at this moment is drowning everything out, deafening his own ears.
Ah, it’s my own heartbeat.
Because standing right outside the dance studio, about a hundred and fifty feet away, is the most—there’s no other way to put it—extraordinary person Juhoon has ever seen in his life.
He’s been in makeup chairs and fitting rooms and stood on award pedestals and stages and more, but he’s never been doing it alone. Juhoon has grown up being extraordinary, but he’s also grown up surrounded by others who were extraordinary. He’s met other child models and geniuses and prodigies who he had shared attention with, but this person? This person was already the most extraordinary person Juhoon thought could ever exist.

Summary
The first time Martin meets James, Seonghyeon is doing introductions. Martin barely catches half of what’s being said anyway, too busy noticing the way James looks up at him.
Not staring, exactly. But it’s just enough to make Martin smile back, crooked and a little too hopeful around the edges. James smiles in return, and Martin pretends the sudden swarm of butterflies in his stomach means nothing.
“Nice to meet you,” James says. “I’m, uh, James. Seonghyeon’s friend. And you are?”
Martin would later think, with the unbearable embarrassment of hindsight, that maybe this was the exact moment his life started getting complicated.
Because the last time things ever feel normal between them, James is staring at him again—only now there’s panic in it. The stranger in front of him wears a ripped red mask webbed with black lines, bruised and breathing too hard to convince anyone he’s fine. Then realization crashes over him.
“Martin?” James blurts. “You’re Spider-Man this whole time?”
OR: Martin thinks revealing he’s Spider-Man to the guy he likes is the end of whatever normal they had. Instead, things change for the better as they learn to love each other anyway.
