Summary
Quickly, Jiang Cheng swipes at his communicator to go back to the previous job listing.
An escort job. Number of passengers: one. Pick-up location: one, view coordinates. He taps to view said coordinates of the pick-up location and finds that he’s already in there: The Canary’s Nest.
He looks up with a narrowed glare at Huaisang, who is humming as he swirls the contents of his mug.
Huaisang smiles. He’s so pretty. He’s so annoying - “I told you you’ll let me into your ship eventually.”
Jiang Cheng goes back to the job details - Destination/s: one. He views the coordinates and it shows him a planet and its name: Qinghe.
Or: Space bounty hunter Jiang Cheng is kinda-sorta dating that cute singer at his favorite bar, forgets to ask important questions, and gets roped into space politics shenanigans, as you do. It'll be fine. Probably.

Summary
“I’m his boyfriend.” Nie Huaisang says, simple and straight to the point.
“He’s not.” Jiang Cheng amends quickly.
“We’re in love!” Nie Huaisang adds, full of confidence.
“Don’t listen to him, he is made of lies.” Jiang Cheng says, and before Nie Huaisang can say more incriminating things, he covers the man’s mouth with his hand. “No, literally. That’s his job. He’s a grifter. He’ll be working with us for this job, because there’s no way I am letting you kids anywhere near that building. No. You will assist, but we’ll let the professional handle this.”
Nie Huaisang frees himself from the hand shutting him up, eyes shining. “A-... A-Cheng, you called me a professional…”
Or: the juniors decided it'd be cool to be online vigilante hackers, but they're getting into very risky territory. Jiang Cheng is a tired & worried uncle, and the only person he can turn to is... his ex.

“Regarding the accusations made against me today,” he starts and cuts his glare over to Sect Leader Yao, who has the good grace to shrink back at the venom in that glare, “I have something to say.”
“Speak,” Lan Wangji demands, but he doesn’t sound too sure all of a sudden, doesn’t seem too happy with the proceedings, and Jiang Cheng does rather enjoy the feeling of triumph it brings him.
“I am innocent. I did not kill any demonic cultivators, nor did I torture them.”
His voice rings out in the courtyard because everyone is silent for two seconds, but then chaos erupts. The voices calling him a liar are the kinder ones, and Jiang Cheng shakes his head at them.
“And I have proof,” he continues, raising his voice so that it carries over the others.
