Was Mike gay?
No, he had dated a girl before. Will’s sister, in fact.
But there was never a spark there.
What about… Mike can’t think of another example.
Oh god, Mike just might be gay.
Better yet, he just might be in love with his best friend.

Summary
“It’s okay. I know it’s… hard for you.”
“Yeah,” Mike exhales through his mouth. With the way Will is spread out on the bed, his shorts have ridden up on his thighs and it’s making it hard to breathe—Will is all comfortable and unguarded, and Mike can sense more than see the vein running up the side of his knee, along his inner thigh and then even higher up.
Mike’s eyes rest there for a second. He imagines following the scent, his nose pressed to Will’s skin. Pushing the fabric of his shorts out of the way, all the way up to his groin. Burying his teeth just underneath the junction of it, where the skin is softest and the vein pulsing warmest.
Or, Mike returns from the Upside Down changed, with a newfound hunger for blood—Will’s blood, specifically. It’s getting harder and harder to resist.

Summary
"It's your first day," Karen tells him. "This is exciting! You'll make so many friends."
"You think so?" Mike asks nervously, his wide eyes staring at her.
"Absolutely."
Karen Wheeler doesn't condone lying to her children, but she believes white lies can be considered harmless. They won't remember, anyways. But if Karen was telling the truth to her son, she'd have to admit how she's actually desperately nervous about his compatibility with his classmates.
After school, when Mike is rambling about his new best friend, Karen decides that if Will Byers makes her son this happy, she'll do everything in her power to make sure they stay friends forever.
Or, Will and Mike's relationship through the eyes of their friends and family (plus their own). Will is nonspeaking autistic, and Mike is also autistic. Neurodivergent friendly fic with them falling in love!
