“A vampire, yes. Clever boy,” the figure said. “And much more than even that. A member of the Szarr family and an apprentice to the greatest mage unliving,” he said, with a congratulatory sort of bow.
Gale looked to his reflection in the rush of floodwater below him. He tried hard to commit his own face to memory. The brown eyes he’d gotten from his mother. The small scar over his lip from when Tara was a kitten. The slight freckles across his cheeks that darkened in the summer sun. Gale wasn’t sure he’d ever be able to look at himself again.
He turned to the vampire and nodded.

Summary
Shortly after the orb was lodged in his chest, Gale went to Baldur’s Gate to find a cure. Instead, he found Cazador Szarr.
Blood, and its latent magic, proved enough to feed the orb as Gale’s un-life spiraled. A year, a Nautiloid, and a tadpole later, Gale is sitting under stars he thought he’d never see again. He can’t decide if having Astarion with him is a blessing or only a grim reminder.

Johnny Martin could play the piano. He could gamble (Until he dropped the habit). He could draw. He could do math pretty well, too.
What he couldn't do was trigonometry. And he couldn't cook. He couldn't speak another language. (Could hardly English, for that matter) He couldn't understand Shakespeare (really though, who can?) But the one thing he was REALLY having trouble with... The one "couldn't" that he couldn't get past...
