Cyrus and Sister Rosaria continue to talk in circles.
Amber was working her canines down to nubs with the way she ground them against another. No one had put the fires back. The lounge windows let some light in, but still wasn’t as bright as the outside. Not quite bright enough to see each other in. Amber had thought adulthood would’ve made life simpler, but things only ever became more complicated, and became less flexible.
Sparks accompanied her fingers snapping as an idea shot into her head.
“I know!”

Summary
When she got the chance, she went back to her little spot in the forest—where she and Poppa would go on rainy days, and found her supplies gone. Momma had taken them, along with the journals, the chalk, and had erased the circle. Henrietta had spent hours on that circle, trying to get it perfect. Unsure if it would even work. Poppa never wrote it down, and Henrietta wasn’t the prodigy people expected her to be.
Henri stayed there for hours, looking for anything that might be left, but her mother did an out-and-out job. The only thing left were the same pebbles and stones that’d always be there, and maybe a few more scuff marks. By the time she was done surveying the area, the trees had grown taller and darker, the trickling stream nearby roughened, and the coyotes were about to start their nightly prowl. Henrietta went home after that; what use would she be as coyote food?
or: the beginning of a next-gen story. Where, after Edward kicks the bucket, and some other events, his oldest child decides to run away.

Name’s Edward Elric, those two brats here are my kids Asher and Eden. Don’t mind if they run amok a bit, they only listen to my wife and she’s back home.
“So, I’m supposed to tell you not to go into the Forbidden Forest, for obvious reasons. But I’m also not really fond of rules, so if you go in be aware that you might die. If you don’t, well, that’s what detention is for I’ve been told. Wouldn’t know.
“Next, staff changes. Since last year’s Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher died under… mysterious circumstances, was it?” He turns to a very exasperated-looking McGonagall, who nods. “We’ve got a new one. Please be nice to Mr Gilderoy Lockhart, keep the fangirling to after class.
"Alright then, fellas," snake eyes glint in the candlelight of the Great Hall, smile filled with sharp predator teeth. "Since old Albus gave me free reign for the entire year, let's see if the school is still standing at the end."

Summary
There’s a magician living in an abandoned warehouse down on the Tricorner Docks.
Park Row has its fair share of strange tales and rumors floating through the cracks. The kids of the alley talk at length, telling ghost stories and cautionary tales. Passing advice on how to survive from one night to the next in the form of fun little parables that make the cold nights feel a little bit warmer, and maybe let them pretend that their lives are all a fun little game, just for a few moments.
The magician, at first, feels like a fable. Something that a kid saw and read just a little bit wrong and didn’t wait around to find out what was really going on. The kid who spotted the magician – a 9 year old red-head with green eyes and a smattering of freckles across his pale face – tells the tale like a myth.
A magician with golden hair and golden eyes, who clapped his hands together and rebuilt a car from scraps with a flash of light. Taking nothing in payment but a bottle of whiskey and a home-cooked meal.
(Or: The one where Edward Elric ends up in Gotham, decides Jason Todd is his, and makes it Bruce Wayne's problem.)
