Summary
Roy is doing fine. If "fine" includes coughing up a lung every five minutes, that is. He didn't mean to get a face-full of toxic chemicals on that last mission, it just sorta happened. And now he gets to pay for it with his trachea and esophagus.
Thankfully, Jason is a mother hen when he wants to be, and Roy is one of the select few blessed with Jason Hugs.

He fought toward the surface, his heart pounding in his ears as webbed fingers clawed toward the light.
But he couldn't make it. The Mother loved her children too much to let them go, and who was he to deny her love?

Eleven years ago, Selina had a baby she put up for adoption. It just wasn't the right time, and she couldn't imagine herself as a mother. And besides, her baby daddy broke up with her and was apparently planning to skip town for the next few years, so he certainly could not be trusted with the news that they were having a kid. He was also just some facetious playboy that she very much doubted was quality father material.
So, she put her little pup up for adoption only after making certain he would be guaranteed a life of luxury. After all, not every child gets placed into a wealthy family that loves to travel. More importantly, she knows he'll get to grow up safe outside of Gotham and have a truly fortunate childhood.
When she gave him away, she truly thought she had made the right decision and assured him a life of happiness.
When she gave him away, they weren't suppose to meet again... and never like this.
