She turns the lock behind her and leans against the door, waiting for him to acknowledge her. Samira watches the notches of his spine straighten through his scrub top but he doesn’t turn around. Doesn’t say a word.
She huffs and pushes off the door with a roll of her eyes. He reeks of self-loathing. They both know his apology was half-assed, an ineffective attempt to soothe his guilty conscience. And yet, here they are again.

Jack Abbot and Michael “Robby” Robinavitch come as a pair. They are tethered by many things, but most notably by the trauma they’ve endured as attending physicians of an emergency department.
Samira wasn’t naive to it when she started dating Jack.
She knows they are friends. She knows they have history, a backlog of memories spanning over years and continents. She knows they orbit each other.
And she’s acutely aware of how they both pull her to their gravities. They both entice her.
