Summary

Summary
Tyler is recently divorced and just coming back from a visit to the mental hospital. He inherits a house from an uncle who passed away, and Josh just so happens to be his neighbor.

Summary
Josh Dun signs up to volunteer at the local animal shelter to fill the quiet parts of his life. He doesn't expect to meet Tyler Joseph, the guarded vet tech with a weird thing about leashes being coiled correctly, who glares at everyone like they owe him money.
Tyler didn't need anyone messing up his routine, especially not someone who names every dog after a snack food and talks to them like they're coworkers. But there Josh was, all soft smiles and chaotic kindness, a new hair color every week. He makes the shelter feel like something other than a place where things come to break.
Tyler keeps pushing him away, but Josh keeps showing up. And against his better judgement, Tyler slowly wishes he'd stay.

Meanwhile Viktor, twenty-two years old, figures that hey, as long as he can research magic, this isn’t too bad of a predicament.
Or: Post-Season 2 Jayce and Season 1 Viktor, the grief of having lost your soulmate while having to look at his younger version who doesn’t even know you, the endless exhaustion of being a second-hand love and also science.

Despite his claims that his actions are no longer dictated by emotion, Viktor is still harboring anger and hatred for his exile in the wake of Jinx's attack, and blames Jayce for what happened. But despite it all, they still care about each other (in their own violent, traumatized ways) and as time runs out, necessity forces them to face the past—and each other—if they want to get out of this unscathed.
