Summary
He had sensed Kakashi’s chakra flaring on and off while they were walking up to the training grounds, which was nice since it meant that Kakashi was at the very least there on time. As they arrived, he sensed a second chakra signature as well, though it was much smaller. Madara had rushed ahead (as much as he could, anyways) but stopped when it became clear the second signature did not belong to some unknown foreign adversary.
Instead, it seemed to be coming from another boy, probably Kakashi’s age, wearing a green jumpsuit and orange leg warmers. He and Kakashi were engaged in a fight, with Kakashi mostly aiming long-range earth-style attacks that the other boy simply punched through on his way towards Kakashi’s outpost atop a log that had been stuck into the dirt. The boy was gaining a bit of ground, but not much. Why the boy didn't simply jump on top of the walls and get to Kakashi that way, Hashirama didn't understand, but he seemed determined that knocking the walls down was the way to go.

Summary
“You need to do something about those mood swings of yours,” Madara grumbled, but his hand stayed wrapped around Hashirama’s arm, the padded fabric of the hanten twisting slightly in his grip. Hashirama watched as gloved fingers slowly slid down his forearm, barely missing his exposed wrist as Madara moved his hand back to the table in a graceful arc.
The problem with the Uzumaki delegation’s arrival, besides the fact that it played on Madara’s nerves, was twofold. The first aspect was that ever since he was a child, Hashirama had been drawn to Madara in a way he could not name, and in moments like these where he could see that inside his spiny exterior there was someone who actually really liked Hashirama, who wanted to be around him, who valued Hashirama’s opinions (strange as they may sometimes be), a heat would start to spread inside him like he had just had his first cup of hot sake after a long time spent in the cold.
The second aspect of his problem was that he was engaged to be wed to Uzumaki Mito.

Spring turns to summer and the Uzumaki finally come see what this whole village thing is about. Early days of Konoha under Madara, pre-slash, miscommunication galore.

Summary
Madara poured himself a cup, inhaling the scent. His hands were still steady where Hashirama’s had become shaky, and though they were spindly and spotted, Hashirama still found his movements graceful as he took his first sip. Madara met his eyes over the rim of the cup, and Hashirama just smiled. They were far past their days of being embarrassed to be caught staring.
“Do we have anything else we need to do today? I was hoping we could get roasted chestnuts and sit in the park while there’s still some sun,” Hashirama asked.
“Nothing that I know of,” Madara replied, “Though you’ll doubtless have agreed to us going to three baby showers and giving lessons to some underperforming academy prospect by the time we’ve even made it to the meeting.”

It's winter in Konoha, and Hashirama's dream has come to fruition. Old man Madahashi ft. Obito and Kakashi for good measure.

The sounds pause, and Garak takes the opportunity to slink around to see just who is stopping to smell the flowers. For all that he has said about Cardassian stealth, Garak drops his scissors.
Julian Bashir is in his gardens. He is facing Tolan’s statue, his gaze upwards as the figure spreads its wings into the morning sun. He turns, and as he does, the light hits his eyes and Garak can see that they are glistening.
“Hello, old friend,” He says, smile wide, arms behind his back in perfect Starfleet professionalism.
“Doctor,” Garak whispers, as if speaking his name may cause him to disappear.

Summary
The shinobi world has come to an end, Infinite Tsukuyomi has been casted, and Madara contends himself with watching over all that is left, tethered to this desolate reality in his godly state.
Except, he finds that he is isn’t as alone as he thought himself to be, and Hashirama’s company soon manages to unearth impressions he has long forgotten and ignored, bit by bit.
(Or: this is how Madara learns to dream again.)
