But it seems giving away his story book has come with some unintended consequences, so he flies off to Sumuru to get it back before the problem can escalate further. Only to realize it may not have been the magic of the book pulling him back to his friend at all.
Aka, Durin's lingering dragon instincts gives him a possessive side he didn't know he had, and doesn't quite know how to control yet.

Summary
In a land ruled by the god of contracts, nothing is more sacred than natural law. Few things are truly immutable to the master alchemist, but amongst the small list includes both defying the principles of heaven and earth, and reversing the irreversible progression through death.
Once an individual is gone, whatever wild arts are employed to return what was lost, what is retrieved is never the same as what it might have once been. It's a lesson all students of medicine learn early on, to extinguish any whispers of arrogant folly, but some take far longer to understand, unmoved by anything short of catastrophe.
