On the day Theseus Hendrick Mycroft died, no one cried, not even him. He was a despised man, the crown prince only in title. Many would claim he was shunned even by the gods but they would be wrong. See, there is an ancient law that even the gods must listen to, the law of free will. If the mortals walking the earth decided Theseus was unworthy of love then there was little the gods could do to change their minds.
At least, not while he was alive. A fancy little loophole, a favor from Time who adored Theseus just as much as the rest of the gods, and Theseus would live once more, now with divine favor bleeding from his skin. The Kingmaker System would ensure he will live to see the end of his fate, to be the greatest king the world has ever known.
But... a small issue. The morality of the gods is much different than the morality of man and the system was designed with their view of morals and what makes a good king in mind.
The descent into depravity is slow but inevitable.

The new chapters are now including a skeleton-house that is becoming VERY concerned for your mental wellbeing, (buried after the much-needed war-trauma,) and you have to deal with a whole OTHER group of crazy people judging you. AGAIN.

When Wilbur walks to his apartment to change for his second job he’s interrupted by a mugger with a knife, how rude! So Wilbur stabs the shit out of the man’s neck with an improv weapon, Wilbur doesn't bother to dispose of the body as he doesn't want to be late for work.
Techno and his good friend (that was practically family) Phil, are called to investigate if a Fledgling had attacked a man that had his neck brutally mutilated and his head bashed, once they look at it closely they believe it is and are now on a mission to find a fledgling.
Will they realize it’s not a fledgling? Will Wilbur come to realize vampires exist?
Or will they all be oblivious to the signs?

Techno wasn’t new to the whole ‘things will get worse before they get better’ concept. But moving to the middle of nowhere was something he didn’t expect out of that statement. Not when he thought he had already gotten to his lowest moment.
He doesn’t think it can get worse, but when he gets bitten by a huge ass dog and his whole world changes, he thinks he spoke too soon.

Phil moves Techno and his older brother Wilbur to a small town in the hopes of bettering his mental health or whatever. It seems like his life being turned upside down is part of this grand scheme as Techno’s thrusted into the world of werewolves, hunters and a family outside of what he’s always known.
He doesn’t think this is going to end well.

As Techno slowly comes down with a strange illness that he just can't seem to kick, he once again finds himself cursing the fact that he has no pack to turn to for help. Alone in a world where different magical creatures tend to stick to themselves, and keep their knowledge insulated too, he truly is on his own.
No one is eager to help a lone wolf.
The vampire coven that Techno finds himself colliding with against his will are not in a comparable position. Phil, Tommy, and Wilbur are a tight knit family, as magical creatures are supposed to be. They're just as off-put by Techno's odd and isolated existence as anyone else. The only reason Techno overlaps with them at all is that one of their own is facing an unknown and strange illness too.
Is it more than coincidence that a werewolf and a vampire come down with mystery illnesses at the same time? And why does the universe seem set on shoving Techno into the tense situation brewing between the vampires and mages?
How will this turn out for the one person in this growing disaster without any pack to rely on?

Meanwhile, Phil has never been close with his older brother, Dante. Or to his more advantageous position in the family. All the things that Kristin tells him about Dante's new spouse only adds to distaste. And accelerates his plans to change some things around here...

Technoblade, the best mage in the three realms, didn’t want to mentor anyone. He had enough things to do, and dealing with a new mage was certainly not part of his contract.
So when he randomly agrees to mentor a mage—who was getting a mentor whether he was willingly chosen or not—and realized he fell into the not interested category of this whole program, Techno couldn't pass up the opportunity. Not only did he get to avoid extra work, the other mage got to take a break and do nothing for 45 minutes each day.
It’s a transactional, pretend mentorship. Nothing more to it.

It’s just not feasible. Phil's soldiers are outnumbered. His allies are hesitant, unhelpful. He cannot fuel the proper war that will bring them out on top, that will finally bring the bloody conquest to a close. His people will be slaughtered. His crown will be stolen. He will be another name to the growing list of fallen rulers.
But a sword raised on the battlefield is not the only way to take care of a threat. Phil knows there’s plenty of other ways to secure victory, or at the very least, push off defeat for another week longer.
The moment the conqueror’s forces come within range, Phil sends an invitation.
He invites the conqueror to lunch.
(Or, AU with king!Phil and conqueror!Techno being enemies, then friends, then family. It is a very calculated plot, until it's not.)
