Summary
Spider-Man has three fundamental rules. Always get back up, never kill, and keep his identity a secret to protect the people he loves. Through blood, sweat, and tears, he's upheld these rules for years now, despite the suffering it forces him to endure.
Despite this, though, he's still a person. One who isn't invulnerable, one who can't always save everyone, and one who can't always hide who he is. He's not perfect, no matter how hard he tries to be.
So, when he accidentally kills Green Goblin, he's heartbroken. He doesn't know what to do with yet another life lost to his imperfection.
Luckily, a certain Merc with the Mouth — that he's come to know as the closest friend he's ever had, despite said friend knowing nothing about him other than his hero persona — is there to help him.
At least, until he's hired to kill Peter Parker: Spidey's cute photographer. Then, all bets are off.

He launched himself at Wade, wrapping both his arms and legs around his torso and subconsciously spider-sticking. He’d lost enough tonight. He didn’t want to lose Wade, too.

Summary
Keith can't sleep. He's been trying, really, he has, but to no avail. It's not his fault that Lance is just so... Lance. So, he spends his nights actually being productive instead of lying awake and fantasizing about something — someone — he knows he'll never have.
Lance can't sleep. Fucking Keith keeps leaving his room in the middle of the night. So, he gets sick of it. Man, he's gonna get pranked so hard.
OR:
“You're terrible at this,” Lance observed, dryly. The flush on Keith's cheeks darkened. “I don't think I've ever met anyone worse at lying than you, actually.”
“Fuck off,” Keith grumbled, though he was unable to muster any real hatred in his tone. Then, softer, “I'm not lying.”
Lance hummed, unconvinced.
“I'll tell you what,” he said, spreading his hands placatingly. “I'll stop nagging you about this if you admit that I'm the better pilot.”
Keith scoffed. “So you do want me to lie to you?”

Summary
Lance’s posture has gone from somewhat respectable to bad to worse, and his attention span is slowly but surely reaching its breaking point, when the door in the back of the room slides open.
Blue and gray and black. Long, dark hair. A familiar set of eyes. The same faded scar carved along his cheek.
Lance jerks upright, nearly jumping out of his chair.
“I’m filling in for Kolivan.”
The words strike right through Lance’s sternum. And he didn’t even have his defenses up. He didn’t have time to prepare.
Although somewhere deep down, he knows that no time in the world could’ve prepared him for seeing Keith again.
or: Being stuck with his ex at a diplomatic conference for a solid month is super cool and very fun. Because Lance is over him. Obviously. He so is.

“You can’t quit two days before the biggest show of our entire career!”
James casually taps his cigarette off in the tray sat in the middle of Lance’s dining table, as if they’re discussing the weather rather than the catastrophic implosion of their band.
“O-kay,” he says slowly, “well, I am, so…?”
“No the fuck you are not.” Lance grits, knuckles turning white where he grips the edge of the table. He’s seriously considering flipping the entire thing over.
“Guys,” Hunk cuts in quickly, both hands raised in a peacekeeping gesture, “I know everybody’s stressed right now, but maybe we should all just calm down and—”
Pidge's chair screeches violently across the floor.
“I’m gonna kill him,” they announce, already halfway over the table. “I am going to fucking kill him!”
Or: James quits the band at the worst possible moment and offers up his famous guitarist ex, Keith Kogane, to take his place. But if there's one thing Lance McClain truly hates, it's eyeliner-wearing, mullet-having, nepo baby bastards.

Loved, loved, loved it. I haven't read the PHM book but I saw the movie and was desperate for something to read, and this was perfect! Definitely tied me over until I can buy the book. Rocky's characterization (from what I've seen, anyway) was amazing!
