Golden eyes hold fast with Ed’s own, and the flapping of the sails above him sounds like the beating of wings. Poetry as a frame, a fragment shaped into finite form of communication, flashes of a structure parting the fog. A man too impossible to be anything but something in a dream.
"I don't know if that's even possible mate," Ed replies, once more moving forwards. This time there is no cliff crumbling away beneath his feet though his stomach swoops low all the same. "When all you see is pieces, how will you ever know if you've seen it all?"

A follow up piece to my first OFMD fic - Delicious.
Ed doesn’t sit next to Stede at dinner. Doesn’t think he can face the press of their thighs together under the table. He knows himself too well and after that spectacular moment of weakness in their cabin, and the way he can still feel the heat of Stede’s mouth against his skin, Ed can practically hear the sound of his resolve leaping overboard.
