The electric kettle shakes to a stop. Kexing flashes him a satisfied grin. “I was trying to do some math! On pen and paper — like normal people do! But he tells me you can do that easily, all in one go, using this program. Then he takes my laptop and shows me that I already have it!”
“Lao Wen,” Zishu sighs, “you know about the calculator app. You have it on your phone. It’s the same one on your laptop.”
(It turns out that after centuries together, Wenzhou still have much of the world to discover together. At the very least, Zhou Zishu will be here to hold Wen Kexing's hand through his valiant fights with modern technology.)

Summary
Zishu is 32 when Kexing sees her again, the din of hundreds of office workers at lunch in her ears and her heart in her mouth.
(15 years after she last saw her, office worker Wen Kexing meets Zhou Zishu at a crowded hawker centre. Kexing keeps coming back to buy lunch from Zishu's little mixed rice stall, because it feels like something her therapist would encourage her to do, and because no one should give up on a second chance with Zhou Zishu.)

When Kexing asks later what exactly he'd gotten up to upstairs, Zishu wouldn't be able to testify to any of the details if his life was on the line. Because it goes like this: get into a sticky situation, knock out some bad guys, get the love interest - doesn't it? The rest is confetti, or... uh, airborne droplets of blood.
(Zishu and Kexing find themselves in a bind when an ex gets enthusiastic about revenge. They manage to get some punching in, traumatise their assailants back, and make out a little for the first time, not necessarily in that order.)
