Billy spun around, the voice came from right next to his ear, so close it was practically in his head.
No one was there.
“Gotta be fucking kidding me with this shit. No fucking way.”
“Wh-where are you?” Billy stammered, voice hoarse.
The voice didn’t answer. Or maybe it did, but Billy wasn’t paying attention.
There was screaming from where the people had ran. They were coming back, sprinting as fast as they could.
And behind them, was a massive wall of blue-grey fog.
It hit one man, then another, the last one disappeared into the mist right before Billy’s eyes… eye, his clothes falling person-less to the ground.
And he was next.

Summary
Magical healing is what makes adventuring a survivable occupation, but today, it's not working on Vax, and no one knows why. Fixing things is how Percy protects his family, how he shows he cares, but healing is not a problem Percy is remotely qualified to solve. When the party limps back to the safety of Scanlan's mansion, still with no cure, Vax would claim he just wants to sleep (it's not like he's physically up to doing much else), but he, like everyone, is grimy and bloody and uncomfortable from the day's events. And a bath—that's a problem Percy can solve (with a little help).

Royal Knight Link Hallowell, Champion of Hyrule, was the most curious of creatures. Since being assigned as Princess Zelda’s personal knight, Sir Link was never seen without the Master Sword, either strapped securely to his back, or firm in his grasp, blade out and ready.
It was unnerving how her rage against him due to her father’s orders dulled to indifference, to concern. Zelda could not name a time she had seen any emotion on her knight’s face. Not when he was reprimanded in front of his entire squadron (oh, how Zelda loathed her father), not when he won spar after spar against the other soldiers, not even when he was given a whole week off duty to visit his family. It was as if he was made of technology, created without emotion.
However, Zelda knew he couldn’t be robotic. Not when he bled for the kingdom to protect her. Logically, Zelda also knew that, had Sir Link been a robot programmed to protect her, he still wouldn’t have hesitated to jump in front of her, but she was certain that her knight was human, no matter how much he acted like he wasn’t.
