“It’s Welsh.”

“It’s a dying language.”
“Well everything will end soon enough when Morgoth has his way.” That seemed to shut him up for at least a moment as he followed her.
Or: With Morgoth’s escape from the Void, after all others have failed, Galadriel is sent to talk some reason into Sauron. It doesn’t quite go as planned. Or at least not how anyone else planned. -

Over time Artanis begins to question herself and her morals as she grows undeniably closer to the Maia. She’s been coming to the family ranch since she was old enough to walk. Her mother hates it, hates the dust and the heat, hates the smell of horse shit and hay (though Galadriel cannot blame her when it makes her mother sneeze and bloat up like a hot air balloon if she comes too close), so it’s her father and brothers that allow her to come along with them on the extended trips, Montana blue skies endless above them as they drove as far away from civilization as seemed possible. The road had seemed eternal when Galadriel was young, long before audiobooks and homework took up the empty spaces of her brain, but now it flies by, eased by her brothers being old enough to focus on their own phones or books (or just napping, in Finrod’s case) that they no longer bother her.
She’s hardly paying attention when their father announces off-handedly that their previous ranch hand had a replacement. “Hal, I think this name is? Good lad. Sturdy. Knows his way around horses, according to Elendil.”
