The hospital room was stark and white. It seemed like a bad dream, now that he was staring at the ceiling, admiring how empty and featureless it was as he drifted away. Vlad was outside, talking to the doctors in a quiet, even voice, and Danny couldn't catch what they were saying.
He wondered, hazily, where his parents were, and why Vlad was speaking with the doctors instead. I dreamt I went to the future and I was a jerk and then everyone dies because the Nasty Burger explodes. The thought shocked him awake.--
Danny and Vlad choose another path.
