“How?”
“Well, you see, Master Illuga,” Flins tries to comfort him by intertwining their hands, “When two people love each other very much—”
“I know that!” Illuga interrupts indignantly, though slightly less frantic than before. “I mean, I know that you can change your body at will," as Flins often does, like during their last encounter, "but you are still…?”
“Ah. Despite my preferred apperance, those things are less set in stone for the Fae,” Flins explains. “As life forms created ultimately out of elemental energy, we are less governed by our bodies and biology, but rather by our intentions and wishes. If you remember during our last entanglement, I did express a certain desire in the heat of the moment…”
“So you're saying that… you wanted me to come inside you so much that you became pregnant?”

Flins catches Illuga smoking. He feels very normal about it.
As Illuga breathes in, Flins feels the plant fibres burn in his flame, but most vividly, the image returns: the embers of the cigarette lighting up azure, himself travelling along their path, past Illuga’s lips, his throat, burning in his lungs as his broad chest expands, penetrating his bloodstream, spreading outward into his strong limbs and stronger heart, being absorbed by Illuga wholly and fully, and it makes him feel more heady than anything he’s ever consumed in the past.

“Figured it out, have you?” Pantalone’s affected slur is gone. Behind the silver glitter of glass, his eyes are lucid—bright and hungry with promise.
“You!” Dottore rasps. “You drugged me!”
The wine stains Pantalone’s smile a deep red, a sanguine gash over a flash of white teeth. “On the contrary, my dear Doctor. I think you’ll find you drugged yourself. I merely recognized a profitable opportunity when I saw it.”
Dottore doses Pantalone’s wine. Pantalone reminds Dottore that he isn’t one to be underestimated.

The strangest, haunting sound vibrates across the island.
When close enough and when the sun momentarily dips beyond a thick cover of clouds, Flins’ eyebrows rise.
It shouldn’t be possible to confirm the identity, much less make out the details, from the distance and harsh daylight torturing his poor nocturnal eyes, yet he does anyway—for the dark, warm brown and orange stand out against an expanse of white. His eyes flit downwards as he registers the movement, the movement of legs rhythmically pushing and sliding in front of each other.
Master Illuga, hands on the straps of a backpack, mouth covered in a scarf to protect himself against the cold, is skating. To him.
