"My room is next to yours. Knock if you need anything." She smiles, big and genuine. Her eyes catch the light, showering Momo with stars, and she realises that this is the safest she’s felt since all of this began.
She’s still unsure about a lot of things. Herself, most of all. But she’s in her childhood bedroom, the only home she can remember clearly, with a girl who cares for her without needing anything in return, and for a second she thinks she might be able to forget about the events of the last two days, just for a while.
Momo nods and smiles back. "Okay, I will.”

Okarun notices; he never doesn’t. He stands up and takes her arm to steady her. “Are you sure you’re alright?”
“I’ll be fine. Just might have to sit down in the shower.”
Okarun’s ears blush, the first telltale sign preceding his face going beet-red. “I could… help, if you want.” At Momo’s raised eyebrow, he splutters and blushes so dark she has to hold back a laugh. “Not like that! Nothing weird! I could just… run a bath and help you wash your hair. If— If you want. Only if you want, of course—”
“Okay.”

So much time had passed since that day. She had proven herself right. He had tried. At the end of all things, though, she was not someone who could be loved. Not fully. Not without wearing a mask.
She had proven herself right too many times to count.
That didn't make it stop hurting.
OR - A story of a break up, mental health struggles, and eventual reconciliation. Momo Ayase's journey to realize that she isn't as bad as she thinks she is. And Ken Takakura's journey to show him that he had meant every vow he had ever made to her.
No matter how much time has passed, they just can't quite seem to let go of each other.

Summary
There was a box made of glass.
Sometimes, fingerprints smeared the glass, making it visible to outsiders. But when those were wiped away, the box was indistinguishable from air. Maybe, if you looked at it at just the right angle, you could possibly see its glare, but most eyes just passed over it, zeroing in on who was locked inside.
Futaba had lived years inside this box, now.
