On a backdrop of bittersweet reunions and a mysterious population surge in the local "wildlife", the villagers will have to band together if they are to survive what's to come.
or: a look at life, relationships, and the effects of magic, lore, and witchcraft in the valley after the farmer has essentially broken the game. jas and maru are probably the closest we have to protagonists, but it is truly an ensemble.

Summary
an ATLA modern AU where everyone is a huge nerd, about the friendships and relationships that form between the gaang and the fire nation gang, who are originally Science Bowl archrivals.
a long walk across a bunch of different genres, characters, pairings, and themes. mostly about growing up smart and neurotic and traumatized, plus also falling in love across class differences. hopefully characterization is pretty close to canon even if we are far afield events-wise at this point.
SPOLIERS: endgame couples are sokka/zuko, suki/mai, and aang/katara.

why is the best piece of writing i've read so far in year of our lord 2022 a piece of stardew valley fanfic about two characters that i dont think ever visibly interact in the game. this fic is so good that i'm literally outraged to be reading it on a free website instead of in a fancy book of short stories. OP did not need to go this hard. and yet here i am crying over these two characters. 10/10 will read again

Summary
After the war, Toph has nightmares. The screeching of metal, Sokka and Suki's screams, the snap of Sokka's leg as it broke from their fall. It's usually his confession that they aren't going to make it that makes her wake up in a cold sweat. She's anxious all the time now, unable to find peaceful sleep.
The cure is apparently to hold hands with her friends for all hours of the day and hope that they're cool with it.

Failure had been the predominant constant in Shane's life for so long that he almost didn’t notice there had been something else steadily building its influence on him for years now.
(Shane healing and coming to trust himself to become Jas's primary caregiver as her parents had wished, because it makes me feel sad things that Jas doesn't move into the farmhouse with Shane when he marries the player character.) :)
