Summary
Jon's reflection is just as he remembers. A memory of getting ready this morning, another of spotting his reflection in a car window on the walk home. The details are recent, but they feel distant. Unblemished skin. Long, mostly-black hair. Tired eyes. What else would he look like?
He leans in, looking at himself in the mirror. Unblemished? No, he can see them. The ghosts of little circular scars. Worms, he thinks, though he doesn’t know where the memory comes from, From Prentiss. Prentiss? As in Jane Prentiss? When did he encounter Prentiss? Is he being haunted by the ghost of himself, eaten to death by worms?
But no, that’s not right.

Summary
Martin’s back is to the door. Jon doesn’t exactly run to Martin’s side, but it’s a near thing. He stops just short of touching Martin, but a quick once-over finds Martin unharmed and unrestrained.
“Martin, are you alright? Where is Basira?” Jon asks. Martin doesn’t look up, even as Jon places a hand on his shoulder. His eyes are closed, and his head leans slightly to the side. For one long, terrible moment, Jon’s heart seizes with terror, but then Martin’s eyelids flutter and his chest rises softly. It seems as though he’s fallen asleep in the chair. Even the click of a tape recorder on the table beside Martin doesn’t do much to dampen Jon’s relief.

It was completely fine that Jon was following up on this very normal, non-supernatural statement at midnight on a Friday. He was going to find nothing at all, and then he was going to go home and sleep for fourteen straight hours and feel absolutely no qualms about moving case #0150409 directly into the filing cabinet marked "discredited."
