Summary
When he gets to the guest bedroom — now transformed into Theo’s room — the door is slightly ajar, and Buck tiptoes forward to peek inside. The night light on the wall glows bright enough for him to see the brand new race car bed in the corner, where Theo is sprawled out across Eddie’s chest. They both appear to be fast asleep, books strewn across the floor next to them, and one of Eddie’s fingers held tight in Theo’s tiny hand.
The sight make Buck’s heart ache with a tangled knot of longing. He wants… well, he wants too much. He should focus on being grateful for this: the way Theo has taken to Eddie right away, instinctively aware that he’s someone who can be trusted. He’s already built a habit of trailing after Eddie like a shadow with a look of awe on his little face that Buck finds highly relatable.
And the way Eddie is with Theo — steady and kind and endlessly patient — makes Buck feel like the luckiest person in the world, just getting to be there witnessing it.Buck watches Eddie with Theo and decides maybe they should all move in together about it. It just makes logistical sense, after all.

Summary
Buck blinks hard, but the scene in front of him doesn’t change.
There’s a new soft swell to Eddie’s stomach, still small but large enough that it must take some effort to hide it under his clothes. His hand is resting there, almost cradling it, and Buck is transfixed.
He drags in a ragged breath. It could be nothing. Maybe Eddie had an abnormally large lunch, or maybe he gained a few pounds from the more sedentary work he did in El Paso. Either could be a reasonable explanation for the change in Eddie’s body.
But Buck also remembers the secret Eddie whispered to him here in this room, in the dim light of the early morning. With their bodies still tangled together, Eddie’s face had gone tight and cautious as he apologized for not telling Buck sooner that he was a carrier — information that had been largely irrelevant in his life before that moment.
And that means…
Is Eddie pregnant?Eddie comes back from Texas with a secret.

Summary
The last time Eddie looked at a pregnancy test, he’d been sitting on the floor of Shannon’s childhood bedroom as she held it out to him with trembling hands. Nothing had been the same after that. And even though Chris is the best thing that’s ever happened to him, Shannon going from his best friend to his wife had made everything worse.
He doesn’t think the same thing would happen with Buck.
Not that Buck wants to be his wife, obviously. They’ll stay friends. And that’s… well, it’s not fine, but maybe he can find a way to live with it.
The more pressing question is how Buck will react if this test is somehow, impossibly, positive.Eddie and Buck have sex in Nashville. Revelations ensue.

Summary
“Really?” Buck asks with a shiver. His eyelashes flutter as he rocks forward, his weight shifting deliciously on Eddie’s lap. “Want me to buy you some lingerie?”
A jolt of panic zips down his spine, and Eddie’s heart stutters dangerously. “Wait… you mean for me to wear?”
“O-only if you want to.” Buck swallows, worried eyes studying Eddie’s face. “I can always buy you a giant teddy bear with a massive bouquet of roses instead. But I… I kind of can’t stop thinking about…” His words fade away as his thumbs find Eddie’s nipples through the thin fabric of his shirt.
The thought is terrifying and thrilling in equal measure, and his first instinct is to retreat to safety and respond with a joke. But Buck is looking at him with that earnest, hopeful expression, and there’s a long-buried desire trying to claw its way into Eddie’s conscious mind.
“You think about me?” Eddie asks bravely. “Wearing things like that?”Buck buys Eddie lingerie for Christmas.

Summary
“Eddie,” Buck says, feeling on the verge of hysteria. “It’s kind of a personal thing.”
“Well— yeah,” Eddie says. “If you’re doing it for sex. But that’s not what you’re doing. Right?”
Buck thinks about that for a moment. “I- I guess not?”
“Okay,” Eddie says, nodding. “So— it’s not any different than anything else we do to help each other then, right?”
“I—” Buck tilts his head. “I don’t know. Isn’t it?”
— in which buck and eddie slowly come to the conclusion that getting each other off for pain relief is just one of the many totally normal, platonic things they do together.

Summary
“Sit on me.”
It’s an insane thing to offer. Logically, Eddie knows this. Nobody in their right mind would do what he’s about to do, but Eddie’s starting to think maybe he isn’t in his right mind.
“Sit on you?”
“On my thighs,” Eddie explains. “That way you, uh. You know. You can touch.”
“Your ass?”
Eddie nods.
A small, wheezy laugh slips past Buck’s lips. “You want me to sit on you and j-jerk off to porn?”
“And touch,” Eddie adds.
Or: Buck wants to hit the town and get laid. Eddie is vehemently against this idea.

Summary
“We could do something,” he offers, his voice a little softer.
Buck lights up, looking startlingly like a dog who’s just been offered his most favorite food in the world.
“Really?” he asks, audibly excited, blue eyes bright. “With— both of you?”
Eddie smiles, charmed. “We’re kind of a package deal,” he admits.
“Yeah!” Chris says, grinning, and then wrapping his arms around Eddie’s neck. Eddie had never imagined that his kid would be the reason he got a date, but now he’s seeing how it might be appealing under the right circumstances.
in the summer of 2018, buck and eddie meet a little differently and fall in love a lot faster.

Summary
This is all perfectly applicable to friendship. Friendships require effort. Intentionality. Sometimes you have to watch a minute long Instagram video about attracting men to figure out how to get your male best friend to come back to your house and fall asleep on your couch again. Or in your bed. Either one.
Whatever Buck's comfortable with. Eddie's not picky.
Eddie will take whatever proximity Buck is willing to offer and be grateful for it, and if that sounds desperate then fine, it's a little desperate, but it's friend-desperate, which is a completely different thing than regular desperate.
He replays the video and takes mental notes, formulating a plan that is simple: get Buck's attention. Spend more time with Buck. Stop feeling like his ribcage has been hollowed out with a melon baller every time he goes forty-eight hours without hearing Buck laugh.
Easy and straightforward. He’s got this.
Or,
Five times Eddie tries to show Buck how much he misses him; plus the one time he just says it.Series

"Yeah, sure, g-go ahead, man." Buck cringes, and even that is adorable.

Buck closes his eyes. Squeezes them shut, really.
Eddie tugs his face into the curve of Buck's shoulder before he can lose the nerve, Buck's pulse fluttering wildly against the tip of Eddie's nose.
Buck is struggling after the events in New Mexico. Eddie decides to move in with him about it.
