Verso never means to linger in Lumière.
He doesn’t mean to start remembering names and faces, to start noticing who’s who. He tells himself that he doesn’t care about their lives or their dreams. He tells himself that he won’t bother to learn their names, not any more. He tells himself that wasn’t what was asked of him.
But then, without realizing that it’s happening, he starts to know them. To recall faces. To learn their lives.

In an ill-thought out moment of, well, not thinking, he decides to bring the animal home to nurse it back to health--only to learn that Kaeya, as the creature's nametag calls it, is no ordinary cat.
