Jason snorts. He forgot about this phase. “Elephants?”
Jay nods, a quiet smile on his face. “Yeah, cuz from the first moment they’re born, they’re fighting. Their moms are super protective and they stick together in packs an’ take care of each other. They’re super smart, too. They got great memory, and even though they look all big n scary, theyre really just big softies. they’re herbivores too. That means they only eat plants.”
“I know what herbivores are, kid.” Jason rolls his eyes.
Jay grins. “Jus’ makin sure. Gotta keep you on your toes. Hey, Jason?” Jay looks up at Jason. Jason hums, not noticing that he didn’t call him Peter. He’s been staring at a certain chipped area on the train across from them.
“How long are you gonna keep this up?” Jay asks.
“What?” Jason snaps back to reality, turning his head to make eye contact. “Keep what up?”
“This facade. When are you gonna realize that you can’t stay here forever?” Jay stares at Jason blankly.

Summary
He can’t take it anymore. Everything that he worked for, all for it to be for nothing at all. Why did he think Bruce would avenge him? Prove that he loves him? Why couldn’t Bruce kill the Joker? If Batman, the self-proclaimed protector of Gotham couldn’t, why couldn’t Bruce Wayne, his unofficial adoptive father do it? Bruce is the one who compartmentalizes the two identities and acts like they’re different people. If Batman couldn’t kill Joker, why can’t Bruce?
He feels something roll down his face, and that’s when Jason realizes that he’s crying. His plan didn’t work. Months, if not years of planning for an ending he fully believed in—gone. Destroyed. What was he going to do now? Kill Joker himself? Jason doesn’t know. He doesn’t know. He can’t deal with life right now, and if anything, he wishes that building killed him.
That’s when it clicks. He doesnt have to keep going. He has a way out. He just has to make it to the kitchen.
OR
jason tries to kill himself 3 weeks post batarang incident after he realizes he has nothing to live for. imagine his disappointment when it doesn’t work.

Summary

The life he led was full of love, of stability. So what was the void that consumed him? Why did he dream of flying?
OR: Peter in Gotham fic except Dick Grayson and Richard Parker were the same person, instead of being alternate versions of each other. Also, I fuck with the mcu timeline because canon is merely inspiration.
