Being captured by Legionaries and sentenced to death isn't exactly Arcade's idea of a good time. All the same, he's not quite sure whether to be grateful when he's rescued by a strange wastelander who may or may not be a Legion spy (and, for that matter, may or may not be completely insane).

Looked so much like Vera that way. How she’d look after she’d win a crowd with her performance. How she’d look when Sinclair aimed delicate words in her direction. How she had looked at Dean after they’d had sex for the first time. The Courier’s appearance churned his stomach when he thought about it too long. Heart sinking, dizzying, arousing. Made him long for times far past him, never to be recovered because of the damn bombs. It was as if he could reach out and touch Vera. Wrap an arm around her shoulder. Press his cheek against hers. Hug her. Kiss her. The way things used to be. Made him feel a bit sad. Very sad, really. But Dean couldn’t admit that to himself.
