    Summary

He hadn’t meant to ask it— and if he had, he wished he hadn’t sounded like he did: petulant and adolescent. He had been holding that question inside of him for the last two, then five, seven, eleven years — a decade’s worth of frustration built up until he could no longer control it. Kyouji was an adult. There never needed to be a reason for why he stopped seeing him. But still, some part of Satomi — young, too young to know better than to ask — still wanted to know the answer.

Kyouji’s features tightened — an aborted flinch of his mouth — before he relaxed his jaw against his palm. “Satomi-kun...” He began to say. That false smile of his returned as he said, “Would you believe me if I said I got roped into king crab fishing off the coast for four years?"

Satomi’s mouth twisted. “No.” He spoke around another forkful of salty-sweet food. “Did you?”

“Maybe.” That grin widened. It didn’t reach his eyes.

Asshole, Satomi thought. Get lost at sea, then. See if I care.

Having exploded whatever future he could have had in Tokyo, Satomi finds himself back in Osaka — and through a dazzling set of horrible mistakes, finds himself chasing Kyouji.

“Get your fucking hands off me,” Hitoshi hissed through gritted teeth. He twisted again and Shota saw and felt his lithe muscles straining beneath his touch.
Shota hummed low in his throat, his fingers tracking higher along Hitoshi’s sides. “Pretty hero,” he cooed, “you’re mine now. I’ll touch you however I like.”

OR: Underground HPSC operative Shinsou Hitoshi was sent in pursuit of the illusive villain Eraserhead, unaware that he was the one being hunted, and that his hunter has far more important things than killing on his mind.

    Summary

Jayce had found pride and joy in so many academic achievements, the sense of accomplishment burning in his chest like a fuel that drove him forward – yet it was hard not to feel equally pleased as he witnessed recognition blooming on Viktor’s face like lightning in a clear sky.

Viktor gaped, eyes widened in shock, before looking up to him again, scanning over his face almost frantically, like he couldn’t believe the name on the page, like he couldn’t believe his own eyes.

“Jayce.” He called him, and his name, muttered in confusion, disbelief, astonishment, realisation, felt like an echo from a decade past. It felt like a cycle closing, a long, lonely chapter ending, and a new one beginning.

“Viktor,” Jayce called him back and Viktor gasped. Jayce smiled, unable to help himself. “It’s been a while.”

Ten years ago, Jayce met Viktor at the science summer camp, becoming his first friend and his first love ー before leaving him behind.
At 24, freshly graduated, Jayce comes back to the same camp, one last summer before he steps into the adult life... only to meet Viktor once again.

“Let me repeat my question. Why are you here, Defender?”

Jayce thought for a moment, toying with his gloves. His skin ached. Without looking up, he spoke up earnestly, “Because I’ve got nowhere else to be.”

“That’s not true,” scoffed the Machine Herald. “Your legacy is secured, you don’t lack funding, and yet you let them kill you and use you.”

Jayce didn’t answer. The Machine Herald continued, “I thought you were obscenely blind, as you are prone to being, but that is not it; you can be foolish, but you are not stupid. I saw too much of your past work to believe that, even your newer products, while utterly useless, have the echo of your old academic brilliance.”

He paused before carefully adding, “You no longer believe in Piltover. So why?”
