Summary
Red Son was not a good son. He was well-aware of this, had spent a long lifetime learning this. He’d been a misbehaving brat before his father was sealed under a mountain, and he’d been weak and dumb and useless in the decade since. His mother didn’t say it, but he could see it in the look in her eyes sometimes.
Sometimes, he couldn’t see anything in the look in her eyes. She was just blank, and empty. Grieving. Red Son didn’t know how to grieve—he didn’t know if he could, if he had the right, when his father was still alive, just out of reach.

He wasn't quite leaning into MK, but he kept inching closer in that way he did, when he was just waiting for MK to sling an arm around his shoulders to pull him close. MK liked to pretend he didn't notice, to see how close Red would come on his own, or if he'd snap and just grab MK's wrist to wrap it around his shoulders himself.
