"5 times Ballister wanted to/tried to tell Ambrosius he was innocent, +1 time Ambrosius believed him"
Ballister is in hiding after being framed for killing the Queen. Surely the man he loves would believe his innocence, if Bal hadn't run away, if he just went to him and explained. Except Ambrosius also cut off Ballister's arm, and that trauma doesn't just go away.
Featuring metaphors about sharks, having a panic attack upon seeing Ambrosius from afar, a Meredith Blitzmeyer cameo, touch-starvation, and lots of angst. (There will be comfort at the end!)

“I’d love to join you for the Bat-patented rooftop brooding session, but you kind of have to work with me here, on account of my legs.”
The anger rises again, filling Steph’s throat until she's choking on it. “How can you be so casual about it? How are you not furious about what was taken from you?” (Tim loved flying across the rooftops as Robin. He loved exploring every corner of this rotten, vibrant, stubborn city.)
(For all the villains who have taunted about breaking a little bird's wings, only two have succeeded. One died slowly by Spoiler’s hand a few months ago. The other still sits in Arkham laughing.)
Reverse Robins. Both Tim Drake, Robin, and Stephanie Brown, Batgirl, were tortured to death. Both came back to life. They're coping with it in different ways.

Summary
I lived with this hunger long before the Hail Mary. This is nothing new. I’m fine.
Right up until Rocky asks another question.
“When last time you touch other human person skin, question?”
Oh. Oh no. “When I… a few days after I first woke up here.”
Rocky starts to relax for a split second, but then tightens when something occurs to him.
“Grace crewmates dead when you wake up. You said this, statement. You not even know your own name, remember nothing, see dead bodies, confirm?”
I nod, because if I open my mouth I will gag.
“When last time Grace touch ALIVE human person, question.”
I swallow thickly. I don’t answer aloud because I know Rocky can hear the hitch in my breath. My stomach churns with fresh bile. He senses my vital signs tick over into stress patterns and goes very, very still again.
“Grace. When last time, question.”
I clench my jaw so hard my temples ache, and beg him with my eyes to just stop.
“Grace. Please say not when… when Evil Stratt humans put you to sleep.”
I can taste grass.
