The lost and found bin of the ED constantly cycled through a collection of abandoned things. Jackets were abandoned on waiting room chairs, rings got stuck in the gaps of the beds, and a full mismatched wardrobe occasionally picked apart by the street teams. It’s what’s left behind by patients no matter which way they left, their own version of a nuclear shadow on the battlefield of the department.

“This is really fucking stupid, can we just forget about this?” Muffled by the couch cushion he’s attempting to smother himself in, Robby quietly wondered if he could just suffocate right here on the floor and be free from the remaining humiliation wrapping around his chest. It was so dumb. He was a grown man, well past the midway point of his life, kneeling in front of the couch and half naked in front of his new boyfriend(?).

Summary
After getting overwhelmed on his last day before his sabbatical, Robby discovers an easy way to self-soothe: Dennis’ extremely soft hair. His fixation with his hair replaces a lot of self-sabotage that he typically defaults to, but it all goes downhill as Dennis struggles to hide how into it he is when Robby pets him.

AKA Robby fails to realize that petting his resident has the added effect of making said resident horny and in love. Dopamine addictions on both ends.

Summary
When Robby starts his rotation at the ED he thinks he knows what to expect. At M.S. 4, the last rotation he needs is emergency medicine, but having done his last one in the ICU he figures he’s bringing in good experience. Some would call that cocky. Bratty, even. Robby argues that it’s not cockiness he’s packing, but intelligence. Core knowledge on the internal workings of medicine. His evaluations clearly reflect that, so if he has a bit of an ego he argues it’s well deserved.
Robby brings this attitude with him on his first day at PTMC. He’s in nice scrubs, comfy shoes he’s broken in, and has his notepad ready for any questions. He holds himself with an air of confidence because he knows he’s able to handle this.
That quickly proves to be wishful thinking.
The senior attending, Dr. Dennis Whitaker, is an interesting man to say the least.
