Summary
He should be glad of it. He doesn’t want people to know he’s struggling, and they don’t. But why doesn’t Buck know? He’s always known, always seen through Eddie’s carefully constructed walls and carved himself a door into them. Even when Eddie resisted, even when he pushed back, Buck ducked his head and shoved through and found the tender hurt Eddie was guarding, cupped his hands around it and held until it didn’t ache so much.
And now Eddie’s bleeding internally, swollen with regret, and Buck doesn’t say a thing. Eddie can’t ask him to. If he opens his mouth, he might just start screaming.
~
There's distance between Eddie and Buck. Eddie isn't falling apart. These are two equally true statements.

Summary
Loki watches Thor until he comes awake on his own — the lashes of his one eye fluttering open, mouth twitching as his breathing speeds up. A dart of confusion crosses his face as he tries to move his arms from either side of his head, and realizes that he can't.
“Loki,” Thor says immediately; the only name that could spring to his lips, waking like this. “Loki.”

Summary
“You can’t tell me I didn’t pick you,” Eddie says, voice shaking, “when you never put yourself on the table to begin with.”
Buck just looks at him—tired, concussed, past pretending.
“Eddie, I’ve been on the table for years. Jesus Christ—I built the damn table. I sanded it, stained it, set a fucking place for you at it. I waited for you to sit down. Do you know what it does to a person to love a life they're not actually part of? To be allowed everywhere but chosen nowhere?”
Or, a collapsing stairwell, years of swallowed feelings, and a fight that finally forces the words out.

"Okay, okay, fine. Jeez. You're not stupid, man, I'm stupid. And a baby."
"As you said."
"As I said," Eddie agrees, and takes a deep breath, "and I'm also a liar, because I didn't pop those stitches falling out of bed, actually."
Steve blinks, mercifully leaning back. "No?"
"Nope," Eddie presses out. "Actually, I was, uh." He forces himself to exhale, and says, "I was trying to rub one out."
Steve stares at him. "What?"
"You know," Eddie says nervously. "Crankin' the hog. Whacking off. Jerkin' the gerkin. Stroking the one-eyed snake -"
"No I got that," Steve says, and Eddie immediately shuts up, "you're saying that's how you tore your sutures?"
"Yes."
"By -"
"Yep."
"Oh my God," Steve says faintly, then starts laughing.
(Eddie can't get off. Steve offers to help.)

Summary
Dana was already explaining: "Mohan was asking if this guy's single," she said, hooking a thumb Jack's way.
Robby lit up like he'd just gotten a gift, turning bemused eyes his way. "Oh, was she," he drawled, enjoying this.
Dana made an indulgent noise. "Apparently she's very taken with our dear Dr. Abbot and wondered if the feeling is mutual." They both looked to Jack then, Dana long-suffering, Robby delighted.
Fuck Jack's life, honestly.
