“Right,” Johnny nods slowly. Swallows. “Right. Sorry. Why was I the last one to know we had a guest?”
“Because you weren’t home,” Franklin says, sticking out his tongue at Johnny. “I knew first. He came in through the window.”
“Did he?” Reed asks, looking at the window with a mix of concern and curiosity.
“Not my best moment,” Peter says with a nervous laugh. “I was just really happy to see a familiar face. Building? Landmark?”

Peter puffed himself up and then stood up suddenly. Johnny grabbed his hand and pulled him down so that he crash-landed all over his lap. He pulled the coat over the both of them like a tent.
Peter twisted around and tried to find Johnny’s face in the dark.
“You’re my friend?” Johnny asked above him.
Peter held his breath.
“Only if you want me to be,” he said.
“I want you to be so bad,” Johnny admitted.
(Peter struggles to make friends, even after becoming Spiderman. He learns that someone else is using the same safe place as him and gets curious.)

Johnny is dreaming.
That is the only possible explanation as to why he isn't a floating corpse in space right now, or at the very least, being pummeled to death by Galactus. Why he has bandages on his face and is surrounded by soft sheets, like they were just freshly washed — which. Well, it can't be right.
He should be dead.
"Don't say that," orders an exasperated, yet not unkind, voice from somewhere above him. "You're lucky I found you when I did. You were burning up."
And Johnny huffs out a laugh, despite himself, despite the circumstances and the rising panic in his throat.
Oh, this stranger has no idea.
or: Johnny sacrifices himself to save the world. He wishes that was the end of it.

The thing was, Peter was stuck with Johnny forever, basically. The super glue of unintentional friendship. It was cosmic, fated, and incredibly annoying. Johnny Storm might have been a handbasket of bad decisions and personality defects wrapped up with an incredible smile, but he was Peter’s handbasket of bad decisions -- of which Daken was still the worst one Johnny had ever made, and Johnny had made some truly bad decisions.

“Seriously, what?” Johnny said, rolling his eyes.

Summary
After Johnny and Spider-Man have an unplanned encounter on the Bugle's roof, both misunderstand the other's intentions and it creates a rift in their friendship.
Of course Spidey is there to visit his boyfriend Peter Parker...the same man Johnny had planned on asking out.
Johnny brought a beautiful bouquet of roses for none other than Betty Brant, the gorgeous Daily Bugle secretary. Peter feels stupid for hoping that maybe Johnny liked him.
Of course, things can only be mended by potentially getting Johnny placed on the sex offenders list. Oops...

When he comes to, there are four pairs of eyes staring at him. A woman, a man, a younger man, and something he can only describe as the Hulk, but orange.
The woman is crouched down closest to him, her hand reached out and pressed against his forehead to check if Peter had a fever. The other three stood off to the side awkwardly, as if they usually just left everything up to the lady of the house.
“Uhm…” The older man hums, scratching his chin.
The younger man clicks his tongue, offering Peter a glass bottle. “You want a beer?”
“Really, Johnny?”
“I DUNNO, WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH HIM—”
OR
Peter's curiosity gets the better of him, and he investigates a strange anomaly in an alleyway. The universe he gets sucked into changes his life in unexpected ways.

“Johnny,” Peter said, reaching out on instinct, and Johnny, all of, what, seventeen at the most, hit him like a scrawny hurricane. Peter got his arms up around him partly to keep from being bowled over in his surprise and Johnny just clung on like a spider monkey, arms around Peter’s neck and legs around his waist, squeezing tight enough to hurt.
Peter should've known that no version of Johnny Storm would ever make things easy for him.
