Summary
Siffrin has craved blood for as long as they can remember. After so many years of wandering, he's come to Vaugarde in hope of finding answers, just as the King's Curse begins freezing the country in time. He's quickly losing hope, but when they come across a small group determined to save Vaugarde from the King, Siffrin decides to join them. They can't get the answers they want if the country gets frozen in time, after all. They'd never traveled with other people before. Siffrin doesn't expect to grow attached to any of them, but as time goes on, the thought of leaving them hurts more and more. Worse yet, they refuse to even entertain the thought of one of them discovering what he is and what he's done. They just know that if they find out, they'll hate them.

“Are you okay with keeping the muzzle on?” Odile sounds annoyed about repeating herself. “It’s not uncommon to make alphas more aggressive during their ruts, despite the supposed calming affects from the Craft.”

You start to shake your head, but you remembered she asked if you wanted to keep it on, not if you wanted to take it off, so you nod instead.
“Yes, to keeping it on?” she asks.
You nod again.

Summary
After tasting some of the people they'd encountered while traveling, Siffrin learned that they're a rare type of person colloquially known as Forks. He can't taste anything except the bodily fluids of another type of person known as Cakes. Determined to keep from losing control again, they travel alone and rarely stay in one town for more than a week. However, while in Jouvente during the Change festival, they're invited to join a pun-loving Defender to watch the fireworks. Siffrin has nothing better to do and accepts. Why not?
He's reminded of why not very quickly. Things like them don't get to have nice, quiet nights. It was probably a good thing to be reminded of that, but they've always been very good at forgetting, now haven't they?

A darkless blur dashed out of the tent. Siffrin skidded to a stop in front of the party, spun on their heel, and unsheathed their dagger.

Having resumed their quest for the final Orb after Siffrin lost an eye, it seems the party can't catch a break. A group of strange Sadnesses are copying Siffrin, using the memories each party member has of him. Can everyone work through their false impressions and find the real Siffrin?

Summary
Romance novels have always held a special place in Mirabelle's heart. She may not personally feel any desire to date or...'do things' with anyone, but there's still something so captivating about all the many ways people can fall in love with one another - especially if there's some fantastical horror elements mixed in for flavor. Monsters, unhinged evildoers, enemies to lovers, captive romance, chasing, hunting, catching one's love and never letting them go!
Such things are unrealistic, of course. They'd be horrible if they happened to someone in real life. Not romantic at all! And yet...
Why does she suddenly want so badly to be a part of that story? Why does part of her yearn...to be made helpless?
