Beside Cody, Rex checks his phone again, this time sending a text before Cody could make sense of what she had said. "They're drinking at 2 on a weekday?" a pause, another thought loading. "Where are they?"
"Made Ani drive them to Target." she looks so pleased with herself, now giving up whatever attention she had been trying to give to her laptop. "Something about not having enough Christmas decorations."

Summary
There was a lot on Obi-Wan's mind at the moment.
Korkie's birthday being tomorrow and how old it suddenly made him feel that his son was turning five; there were papers to write and requisitions to file for work, all stuff that he was forcing to wait until Monday because it's his son's birthday, dammit. Another less serious, but equally stressful thought on his mind revolved around the dye he was sure was dripping into his eyes and the ever-present fear of smacking his head on the faucet.

That's how Obi-Wan found himself contemplating death by asphyxiation as he fixed his tie, a meticulous shade of blue that matched Satine's dress. She fluttered around the room as she got ready, that same unsettling calm demeanor that took over her whenever there was an event. His girlfriend absolutely thrived in this environment, which said wonders about her high tolerance of bullshit."
Obi-Wan is a grad student and Satine is a politician who has no qualms about making decisions without him. Or, rather, being swayed into making the 'right' decisions with or without him.

The kid blinked at him, but he merely shrugged and turned back toward the glass. Luke hummed and considered what to do next. He figured it was best to keep the child calm until his parents came looking for him. Then again, this kid seemed perfectly calm and content to just stare at the alligators all day.

There were little things at first that caused the hair on the back of Obi-Wan's neck to stand on end the first few weeks. It was the way cupboards seemed to open during the night in their area or how he found his toiletries all over the bathroom floor on several occasions. Sometimes he thought he heard knocking from other parts of the house, but that could easily be explained away by far too little sleep and copious amounts of coffee. Hallucinations were a symptom of him failing to take care of himself properly. He knew it wasn't Anakin creating the chaos- at least he hoped his brother wasn't getting up at strange hours of the night to mess with him. His brother may still hold a grudge about the fact Obi-Wan left for college, but he figured any revenge for that would be far more creative.
