    Summary

When your land is plagued by wars and death becomes an everyday thing, your hands learn to become more stable than a maester's.

You learn to look into the eyes of a killer and understand forgiveness. You learn that justice is a heavy sword to be carried.

But when you meet a Targaryen Prince burdened by duty and grief, your souls vibrate to the same frequency. And perhaps, the world is not as dark as you both originally thought.

    Summary

The Grand Welcoming Ball at the Red Keep is meant to be a celebration of a new alliance, not a desperate escape from a binding royal decree. Cornered by court propriety and facing mounting pressure to seal his betrothal to your sweet younger sister Jena, Prince Baelor Targaryen turns his attention to the last person he should: you, her sharp-witted, fiercely protective chaperone.

What begins as a harmless verbal sparring match to save your anxious sister from public embarrassment quickly spirals into something far more complicated as a traditional progressive dance, whispered gossip, and secret corridor meetings blur the line between performance and reality. While the court sees a flawless prince executing his duty beneath tournament banners, Baelor is left struggling to hide a secret he has carried since the moment you arrived in the capital. Because pretending to court your sister to appease the realm is easy.

Pretending he has not been hopelessly, possessively drawn to you from the very beginning is another matter entirely.

    Summary

He was wearing scrubs, just like you, but yours had paw prints on them and his didn’t. “Hi?” his mouth had quirked upwards at your confused response. He made himself comfortable as the gears of your mind turned, trying to figure out if you knew this guy and had been rude for the past three Tuesdays. He settled his elbows on the table before grabbing the menu from behind the napkin holder.

“What do you usually get here?” He’d asked, as though the two of you were old friends.

It’d shocked you enough that you sat up, spine touching the seatback for the first time since you’d sat down ten minutes ago, “Do we know each other?”

He’d glanced up from the menu, once again meeting your eyes, “No.” Back down to scan the menu, and then, in a softer voice, “But you have dried blood on your face,” your eyes widen at his words, “and I think it’s scaring a lot of the staff.”

    Summary

"You run," he begins carefully, multi-colored eyes dark. "And I shall have you hunted down within the hour."

Indignation flares. And they say he's honorable—he's no different from most of the Targaryens you've met, all possessiveness and darkness, hoarding their wives like dragons hoard gold."

It is said that Prince Baelor Breakspear perceived something amiss during the trial and spoke sharply to the marshals, urging to halt the proceedings altogether, though for what cause none can say with certainty.

Some claim the effort was dishonorable, borne from a desperate desire to protect his brother and nephews.

Whatever the reason, no halt was granted.

Mushroom insists Prince Baelor had glimpsed “a pair of maiden’s eyes” behind the visor and would have stopped the trial to spare her, though whether this speaks to truth or to the fool’s taste for embellishment must be left to the reader.
