Shane didn’t move for a long moment, just breathed. The way his body only ever seemed to manage when Ilya was with him. The apartment felt safe around them. It was the kind of quiet that made it easy to let things slip through the cracks. And something did slip. A tiny, unconscious shift as Shane nuzzled his head a little deeper into Ilya’s hand. Ilya felt his heart swell with the way Shane softened under him, and a warm pride unfurled in his chest. He kept stroking through Shane’s hair, as if to say yes, this is yours, take it. And Shane let the last of the day drain out of him without a fight at all.

Summary
Rather than give him the joint, Ilya takes it back between his own lips and sucks in a deep breath, the tip glowing as he does so. Then, before Shane can process it, he’s reaching up and sliding one large hand around the back of Shane’s neck, pulling him down so their lips meet.
Shane gasps softly, and Ilya takes the opportunity to blow smoke into his open and waiting mouth.
Oh, God. Are you there? It’s me, Shane Hollander. We’ve had our differences, but I think I’d like to convert for real this time. I’m ready. Open the pearly white gates. I’m coming up.

“Colour?” Ilya asks again. The word slices through the fog.
Shane drags his eyes up. Ilya’s face is close, intent, reading him.
The first answer that rises is still green. It's there on the tip of his tongue. He can take more. He wants more. He wants to be the kind of person who can take more.
The second answer, quieter and more honest, is something else entirely.

Shane comes to Ilya’s Ottawa lake house with three days off, exhausted from the tiring business of being Shane Hollander and desperate to stop thinking.
Ilya is extremely happy to oblige. The plan is simple: rough sex, marks that will fade before anyone else can see them, and enough aftercare to keep them both smug about how good they are at this.
Naturally, they get ambitious.
Naturally, things do not go entirely to plan.

Shane blinks. “What?”
“Kiss someone.”
The question makes Shane’s brain short circuit.
Shane swallows. “I mean—yeah.”
“Then why haven’t you?”
“I don’t know.” Shane shrugs again, shoulders tight. “Timing. People. It’s just… not something I think about like that.”
That’s not entirely true.
He does think about it. Just in a different way. Abstractly. Like something other people do, but not he himself.
Ilya watches him for a long moment.
