The hybrid blinked slowly.
“I’m glad you’re still here.” Mina smiled again, just a small curve of her lips.
A pause stretched between them, quiet and still. Then, slowly, so softly it was almost lost to the night, she spoke.
“…Why?”
“Why… what?” Mina blinked.
“Why… come back?” The hybrid's voice cracked, hoarse from disuse.
