Because he can see the look that Tetsurou would have on his face right now. It's a memory. Hazel eyes, dimmed with exhaustion yet brightened with warmth; a curl of lips that's deliberately provocative yet so soft. Tooru might have kissed him to shut him up.
God, he misses Tetsurou.
17,380 kilometers and a 12-hour time difference isn't the best recipe for a successful relationship.

"Don't know what's with all these comments today, now from you too. Just text me later, I'm going now."

"What?" Hearing that stalls Kuroo's hand that had been patting a tissue down the length of his thigh. He resumes his movements after a second because he just cannot stand the feeling of cold wetness━ his own fault for turning at the worst time and accidentally colliding into the waiter that had been carrying their refill of iced waters to them. "What are you talking about?"
"That guy's looking at you like he wants to eat you instead of his meal." Kuroo pauses again. Bokuto sounds pissed.

He had missed his room at the mansion - so much more his than the bare chambers he rested in at the Water Temple had ever been. More importantly, he missed Eiden and all of his fellow clansmen. He had not let himself be overcome by that ache for their easy companionship; but now, stepping over the threshold into the warm glow of the mansion lighting, all of the exhaustion and longing came crashing down all over him at once like an avalanche.

Tetsurou wasn’t sure why he was ruminating over it as he slowly walked to class, ignoring the twinge in his ankle and Tooru’s obnoxious voice echoing through his mind. He wasn’t sure why he spaced out entirely as his professor blabbed on, scribbling doodles of owls in the margins of his notebook.
But whatever, the whole thing was pointless and stupid.
Besides, as Tetsurou had already said.
