Summary
After the war, there is a buzz under Ichigo's skin, and an itch that he can't scratch that lasts with him for years, that aches for a fight and craves the taste of violence. Finally, after the ache has quieted, the itch is gone and his Hollow isn't pressed tight against the skin of his teeth, Ichigo settles down and finds a routine for himself in an attempt to live a normal life.
Of course, Grimmjow has other plans, and smashes straight through Ichigo's glass house of carefully crafted normality.

After the war, Ichigo is trapped in a human life. Without his powers, he's helpless against the supernatural. Though he distances himself from the life he knew, a part of that life persists. When Grimmjow shows up with news of a new threat in Hueco Mundo, Kisuke learns that Ichigo's being actively hunted by Hollows. They need to bring peace between all three factions, in order to save their worlds. To keep Ichigo safe during this time, Grimmjow steps up to stay with him. While he's there, though, he endeavors to draw back the warrior he once knew.

“I'm sick.” She explains in a very nasally manner, curling up with a hazy look. Dante nods in agreement, like he didn't deduce that from the first five minutes of her being here. Patty looks miserable. Usually she's up and about, flitting around his office like his very own pixie. An argumentative pixie with very loud opinions about how he handles his space. Right now, she's quiet and snotty and gross. That's not right, Dante thinks, feeling disturbed.
Or, one time Dante takes care of Patty when she needs it and one time Patty does the same for him.

Jaskier could feel the years catching up on him. A night spent sleeping outside now left him with aches that stayed all day. Trekking twenty miles in a day seemed far more daunting than it used to, and he found himself having to take far more breaks than he did a decade ago. More than that, Jaskier just felt weary. He was tired of constant travel and desperately hoping he could find a place to perform, even with all his fame. He needed a break, somewhere he could go and rest.
Jaskier went to the coast.
OR
After the mountain, Jaskier decides he's done with Geralt, done with being his barker, and done with traveling the continent. He goes to the coast and opens up a tavern in the hopes of living a peaceful life. But just because you take the bard out of the music doesn't mean you can take the music out of the bard.

It's been three years since Jaskier ran, hand in hand with his little Lioness, Ciri. For three years his sole goal has been to keep her safe as they slowly make their way across the continent. When a gorgeous long-haul trucker with silver white hair picks them up one cold winter's night Jaskier knows the man is dangerous. When he sees just how dangerous first hand, Jaskier knows he should run- running from dangerous men has become the defining theme of his life, after all. But Jaskier has learned how to read a man's intent the hard way and Geralt doesn't feel dangerous. Rather, Jaskier feels safer with him near- Geralt is no threat to them, Jaskier is sure of it. He would never hurt them.
As long as Geralt never finds out who Jaskier is running from, or just how precious his charge actually is, that is.

A muscle twitches in the witcher’s jaw. He clears his throat. “We recently… reunited. He and I used to travel together.”
“And the moment I can get out of this storm, we will cease ‘traveling together’ once more,” Jaskier says bitterly. Traveling together. Ha. Geralt makes it sound like they were nothing more than acquaintances on the road.
To him, Jaskier supposes it was. Unfortunately, Jaskier’s own heart and mind never received the memo.
Nivellen raises his brows, glancing between them. “Ah. I’ve… prodded something, haven’t I?”
“There is nothing between us to prod. There never was,” Jaskier insists. “Continue your game. I rather enjoy watching Geralt lose.”

Or, Geralt had never called Jaskier a friend, not once in their twenty years traveling together. Now he returns to uproot Jaskier's life, Child Surprise in tow and mentions of an 'old friend' on his lips. It makes Jaskier want to scream.
