Summary
Riddle remembered a time that seemed so long ago. When everything was still uncertain, and the only thing known was that someone had eaten something and gotten sick on the Briar Valley’s beach bordering the Coral Sea. At that time, no one knew where it came from.
But his mother had been certain.
One day, he worked up the courage to ask her: “How are you sure all this happened because of them?”
Almost everyone, Riddle’s mother included, had blamed merfolk for allegedly starting the outbreak of Purple Fever.
“Sevens, Riddle, how can you say that? Nearly every species, fae, human, beastmen, even dwarves, had suffered casualties to the blasted disease. The only ones who avoided the bloody virus are those dirty fish people- suspicious, isnt it?”
She scoffed before continuing, “They probably find joy in watching the rest of us flail about. Disgusting, slimy creatures. Don’t believe a word they say. Now, focus on your studies.”
Despite her strictness, Riddle would give anything to hear her scold him again. Instead, now she lay unconscious on a hospital bed.

Riddle's mom gets sick. Now, Riddle and Trey have to go to the Coral Sea to save her- or something...
