It shouldn't come as a surprise that when invoking The Red King, a winter worse than anyone has ever seen will follow. Yet here Martyn is trading gold for silk then silk for blankets, wondering if there's more to life to being a weapon. Sure he had somewhat of a plan for this, after all what sort of winter spirit wouldn't? Not him. Yet the cold still invades Dogwart, slipping through every nook and cranny. Though every window and spilling through every door opened.
Most are dealing with it the best they can, yet one hides from the cold, unsure if it's due to being Red or being the Red King. It's anyone's guess. Perhaps even a combination of both.

Quietly, in the dead of night, long past lights out, there was a knock on Cherri’ and Shulk door. Well, it would be their shared dorm, except Shulk never came home. The last time she’s seen them was the mess with the headmaster.
Still, while Cherri goes to see who it is at her door, she tries not to get her hopes up. It’s probably not Shulk. He’s probably just rooming with that Magic kid. She vaguely remembers something about along those lines.
Standing on the other side is Nuke, awkwardly holding his hat in his hands with a backpack stuffed full of fabric. Nuke, Cherri’s only remaining friend. The one dude who doesn’t hate her in this hellhole of a school.

What’s another social construct broken? "Just because the interactions between species are understandable doesn't mean everything under the hood, so to speak, lines up one-to-one.
Rocky learns about human society. And it would just like to know: what the actual fuck???

Summary
Grace flexes its jaw, shifts the marker towards one corner of its mouth, then removes the marker without actually consuming it. It makes a sharp pop as it leaves Grace's mouth, brightening the tubing in Grace's nose.
"I've got it reversed," Grace decides.
I unfreeze enough to let out a loud and pointed noise of disgust.
"Yeah, sorry buddy. This isn't exactly my wheelhouse."
Without acknowledging the aborted attempt to eat the marker, nor wiping it's digestive fluids off of it, Grace taps the square it paused over again.
"This is actually a second cousin," It says.
I decide not to ask.

Or: The road to Erid is long. Rocky spends it slowly figuring out what it means to be human, and how Grace muddles along through it.

Summary
It's been years since Doctor Ryland Grace saved Erid and Earth. He is content with his life, happy just to teach the next generation of Eridians and have the occasional game night with Rocky and Adrian in his dome. For the most part, nothing changes.
And that's the problem. Shouldn't Grace, y'know...age? When Rocky indicates that he should be sixty human years old by now, Grace can't reconcile the young face in the mirror with the time that his friend has religiously kept.
Things get more complicated when another undoubtedly human ship shows up at the edge of the 40 Eridani system. Suddenly Grace is playing ambassador between the two species, and tensions are rising between them. Will this be a successful second contact, or is the peaceful life Grace just wants to live too much to ask for?
