Summary
Hannibal looks up into Will's eyes and sees the surrounding chaos sinking into them like screams into a pillow. Will's calm expression is puzzling. Surely, with his empathy, the level of distress around them should short every circuit in his mind.
"Didn't you get the news? We're all about to die," Hannibal says.
"Oh, it doesn't matter, I die all the time."
--
After a home invasion gone awry, Hannibal Lecter finds himself dying and coming back to life so often it grows mundane. Mundane, that is, until he realizes he's not the only one.

Summary
Five months after Hannibal surrendered to the FBI in Will's driveway, his trial is well underway. Exhausted, Will Graham has hidden away in Wolf Trap, avoiding all trial coverage, until it's his turn to testify.
If Will had turned on the news in the previous weeks, however, he would have learned a vital piece of information: The Chesapeake Ripper is carrying a child conceived before his arrest.
The world has decided Bedelia, an alpha, must be the other parent because of their time in Florence together, but Hannibal refuses to answer any question regarding his unborn child. Will, naturally, understands why.

Summary
Will and Hannibal have been in Florence for three months, and they are beginning to face conflict from within as well as from outside. In Italy, Hannibal and Inspector Pazzi meet once more, while in the United States, Mason Verger and Jack Crawford try to find ways to bring the men to justice. Between them, Hannibal and Will struggle to find a way to coexist and survive those who wish them dead.
Second in a series, following When the Moment Comes. Recommended you read that work first, although you could probably connect the dots if you want to jump right in.
