Yingxing looked up from where he was hammering away at a weapon and smiled, the force of it making Dan Feng want to topple over.
“I wasn’t expecting you,” Yingxing said, wiping the sweat off his forehead. Dan Feng wanted to catch the droplets that flew in the air with his tongue. “What brings you to my humble workspace, High Elder?”
Dan Feng crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow at the obvious lie: Yingxing knew that Dan Feng liked to seek his presence after long meetings, and the lilt to his voice betrayed his teasing easily. Instead of calling him out on it, though, Dan Feng allowed himself to indulge in his right as Yingxing’s husband, his gaze traveling down Yingxing’s distinctly unclothed torso toward the pants that clung low on Yingxing’s hips. “It is no wonder that you are dressed so inappropriately, then.”

“I think you might want to check out the hot springs on Planarcadia,” Stelle said. “You know, soak in the water and do your dragon thing to relax. I’m sending you the coordinates to a public bath that has a cold water bathing area, plus a coupon code. You need to go.”
Dan Heng furrowed his brows. Why was Stelle so insistent on this?
“You should use the coupon yourself. I’ll go to the archives—”
In a flash, Stelle grabbed Dan Heng’s shoulders in a vice grip, her eyes twitching uncontrollably as she started pushing him toward the exit of the Express. “You need to go.”

Dan Heng’s hot, and everyone knows that sleeping with your coworker is like shitting where you eat, so everyone placed bets on who could score a night with him. Chris started it when the Astral Express docked here three years ago, and it’s only been growing ever since.”
“Yeah, you tell her!” Chris cheered, clapping his hands together. “We’re just having fun with it. And besides, everyone knows that the winner of the bet is a foregone conclusion — the next time the Astral Express makes a stop here, I am going to be walking right into the archives and walking right out the morning after.”

They’re almost to the television station for the debate when Blade falters in his steps and stumbles.
“Blade?” Dan Heng asks, reaching his hands out to stabilize Blade but flinching back at the sight of glowing red eyes. “What’s going…”
All around them, random citizens of Planarcadia twist and scream and cackle, their limbs turning corpse gray and neon pink as grotesque grins spread across their faces. Dan Heng no longer needs to finish asking his question; he can see, plainly in front of him, that the debate has been a ruse all along.

In order to calm Blade down from his episodes of mara and no longer willing to kill him, Dan Heng must finally acknowledge another piece of the puzzle that makes up his and Blade’s relationship. Takes place during the black screen scene in 4.2.

Summary
All he hears is the devastated roar of a dragon and his heart feels like it’s been ripped apart. Cloud-Piercer has been by his side since he was in the Shackling Prison. It was his only tether back to Yingxing, the only thing that kept him safe throughout the years. It even protected him from its maker, a sin that Dan Heng will never be able to forgive himself for.
Cloud-Piercer and his bracer are the two things that plays a visceral role in allowing Dan Heng to remember his past. Cloud-Piercer is the one thing he holds dearly to his heart, the one thing he promised himself he’ll always take good care of. The bracer on his forearm burns as he goes through an intense grief, his fingers digging into his ribs at how anguished his chest is. He approaches the blade of Cloud-Piercer, his hands violently shaking as he drops to his knees with a loud thud. He pries it out of the ground, the glow of ‘Dan’ still shining brilliantly in the dark.

Sylvain reaches over from his cot to clumsily pat Felix on the arm. “Well anyway, don’t worry about it. If you’re looking for somebody interested, I don’t think you’ll have any trouble finding them. Anybody would wanna deflower you.”
Felix doesn’t mean to say it, is the thing. He means to tell Sylvain to fuck off, colorfully, for his use of the word “deflower.” He means to tell him that he’s not worried, shut up. He means, more than anything else, to get them to drop this subject and never pick it back up again.
Instead, for some fucking reason, he opens his mouth and asks: “Would you?”
