“Don’t scream,” it said. Alec opened his mouth to disobey and found a hand clamped over it. He inhaled through his nose, thrashing in the narrow bed, and smelled– something familiar, cigar smoke and– “Jerry?” he said incredulously, getting his mouth free. His body relaxed before his mind could interfere. Jerry wouldn’t hurt him.

Awfully close to a line but not quite crossing it, and leaving Julian with absolutely no idea what he's meant to do in response. Garak in microcosm, summarized in a single unexpected gesture.
(Or: Julian has always thought Garak just had a weird little habit. Until another Cardassian does the same thing to him, and seems to imbue the gesture with a meaning Julian really had not anticipated.)
