    Summary

This is an old idea that has been living in my head for years.

At first, it began as a simple question: what would have happened if Thrawn had joined the Rebellion instead of the Empire?

Then I took the idea a little further.

The Empire has been defeated. Thrawn has returned from his second exile beyond the edge of the galaxy — and yes, I will be ignoring roughly 95% of what happens in the Ahsoka series, sorry — only to find the New Republic doing… well, what the New Republic does in Ahsoka. That remaining 5% I am keeping.

And Thrawn, being Thrawn, looks at the fragile, idealistic, politically tangled New Republic and reaches the only conclusion that makes sense to him: someone needs to impose military order before the galaxy collapses into something worse.

This fic will explore that very inconvenient premise.

Since I have other projects currently in progress, this story will not have a regular posting schedule. I will update it as the idea grows.

    Summary

The Blood Crow’s emergency supply locker was never meant to be interesting.

It held dental tablets, ration soap, sealed shower gel, the worst cologne in the Imperial Navy, and a number of deeply uninspiring personal-care items intended only for emergencies. Unfortunately, aboard a ship full of overworked humans, even hygiene can become a logistical vulnerability.

When Eli Vanto learns why civilian toothpaste is restricted aboard Imperial vessels, Rask decides the situation is hilarious, Thrawn decides it is operationally relevant, and the crew of the Blood Crow proves, once again, that humans should not be left unsupervised with comfort items, informal trade networks, or anything mint-flavored.

A companion piece to Chiss, Chocolate and Other Human Hazards, featuring naval bureaucracy, questionable toiletries, Rask being Rask, Eli trying to prevent paperwork, and Thrawn discovering that morale may be harder to regulate than expected.

    Summary

Today, while chatting on the Everything Chiss Discord server, we somehow ended up discussing which foods Chiss might be able to eat that humans cannot, and vice versa. Which means I have to thank Its_a_moray for putting the truly excellent and terrible thought in my head:

What if chocolate were as toxic to Chiss as it is to dogs?

For context: chocolate contains methylxanthines, mainly theobromine and some caffeine. Humans metabolize these well enough that chocolate is usually just a delicious life choice; dogs do not, which is why chocolate poisoning can cause vomiting, tremors, tachycardia, seizures, and, in severe cases, death. So this fic runs with the idea that Chiss biology handles chocolate just as badly.

Which is unfortunate for Thrawn, because Eli Vanto has just received a birthday care package from home.

    With dark chocolate cookies.

    Summary

Part five of the series: Eli and Stent are getting ready to travel across the galaxy.

What begins as a straightforward transit through lesser space turns into something far less predictable when Eli Vanto and Stent cross paths with the scattered remains of a fleet that was never meant to be found. Drifting wrecks, fractured signals, and half-erased histories pull them into an investigation neither of them planned for—one that refuses to stay contained within the neat boundaries of a mission from point A to point B. The deeper they look, the more it becomes clear that whatever happened to this fleet did not end when it vanished.

    Summary

Lieutenant Thrawn is interested in Ensign Vanto.

Ensign Vanto is not interested in developing inappropriate feelings for his superior officer and therefore has not examined the situation too closely.

Thrawn follows standard Chiss courting procedure: carefully engineered minor inconveniences, flawlessly resolved, in order to establish indispensability and long-term structural alignment.

This would work perfectly... if Eli were Chiss.

Instead, Eli begins responding unpredictably. So Thrawn concludes he must try harder. The Empire remains unaware that one of its most promising officers is engaged in a highly strategic, culturally misunderstood act of flirting.

    Summary

The Empire runs on order, discipline, and fear.

The Chimaera runs on contraband crock pots.

When an underground cooking network begins spreading through the lower decks, Lieutenant Vanto expects eventual disaster. What he does not expect is the Grand Admiral’s involvement, complete with performance analytics, stimulant recalibration protocols, and a refusal to shut down chili night—even after fermentation nearly causes a missed bridge shift.

    Featuring:
    • illegal pancakes
    • emotionally significant spice smuggling
    • porcelain tragedy
    • oil-based combustion
    • tiramisú-induced overclocking
    • and one very controlled Chiss discovering the strategic value of dessert

Domestic absurdity in space. No one is prepared.

    Summary

The Chimaera is still fully operational.

That is no longer enough to justify its existence.

On its final voyage, old hierarchies resurface, absent voices linger in the spaces between orders, and one last command must be given—correctly.

As Admiral Faro prepares to stand down and an old commander returns to bear witness, what remains is not the failure of a ship—but the question of who, in the end, is meant to give the final order.

    Summary

Eli Vanto entered the Ascendancy expecting structure.
He didn’t expect to be moved like a piece on someone else’s board.

A sudden transfer pulls him deeper into Chiss politics, where custody is leverage, silence is currency, and every officer has a motive they won’t speak aloud. His work on the Steadfast reveals fractures the Families refuse to acknowledge, and every new assignment feels less like advancement and more like containment.

But buried transmissions, missing ships, and a ghost signal from Lesser Space suggest the Ascendancy is listening for something it won’t name—
and someone thinks Eli might hear it first.

As the maps thin, as orders tighten, and as the edges of the galaxy begin to behave in ways they shouldn’t, Eli finds himself walking a line he never agreed to:
between what the Families want him to see…
and what the data is already telling him.

Part III is where the silence around him stops being ignorance—and becomes intention.

    Summary

On the Chimaera, silence has always meant evaluation. Eli has learned to navigate it—carefully, precisely, always aware that every answer might be measured against a standard he cannot fully see.

But when Thrawn asks for his analysis—without guidance, without correction, and, most unsettling of all, without expectation—Eli is forced to confront a different possibility: that his thoughts are no longer being tested, but trusted. And that the space between them is no longer defined by hierarchy alone, but by something far more dangerous—mutual understanding.

    Summary

Eli’s service aboard a Chiss patrol vessel plunges him into a world where silence is doctrine, mathematics is language, and navigation borders on ritual. Surrounded by officers who speak in restraint and move with impeccable discipline, he must learn the unspoken rules of a Fleet that reveals only what it chooses—and often less than that.

As he works to understand the ship’s methods and the strange logic of travel through the Chaos, Eli discovers patterns that shouldn’t exist and boundaries he isn’t meant to cross. Every calculation opens a new question; every briefing leaves him with fewer answers. What begins as standard duty becomes something far more intimate: an education in a science the Ascendancy does not name, a culture that guards its truths through precision, and a silence that feels increasingly inhabited.

Caught between duty, curiosity, and a growing sense that the ship itself is not what it seems, Eli must navigate a world where understanding is earned slowly—and sometimes withheld for reasons he can’t yet see.

    Summary

When Commander Eli Vanto followed Thrawn into the Unknown Regions, he expected discovery.
    He did not expect stillness.

Among the Chiss, language is law, silence is strategy, and emotion is a kind of heresy.
Eli’s assignment as liaison to the Expansionary Defense Fleet was meant to be temporary—a diplomatic courtesy, a gesture of continuity. Instead, it becomes an education. In grammar. In patience. In belonging.

From quarantine to command briefings, from language drills to unspoken understanding, Eli learns that translation is never only about words. It’s about survival. And the price of being understood may be losing the ability to think in his own tongue.

A story of adaptation, devotion, and the quiet alchemy of learning to live among the blue.

    Summary

In the far reaches of the Unknown Regions, Grand Admiral Thrawn builds something new.
Half Chiss, half Imperial, the Empire of the Hand is more than a fleet—it’s an experiment in balance: art as strategy, logic as faith, loyalty as geometry.

From nebular battles painted in color and silence to alliances forged through language and pattern, Thrawn, Eli Vanto, Stent, and Commodore Parck learn what it truly means to see.
But when old empires return and loyalties fracture, even the most perfect design must endure tension—or shatter.

A story about order, understanding, and the patterns that hold us together. The art of command. The art of belief. The art of loyalty.

    Summary

Eli Vanto needed a shore leave—and convincing Lieutenant Commander Thrawn to finally take it felt like a small victory in itself. A transport ride, a modest cabin on the icy edge of Orto Plutonia, a few polite conversations with locals—simple enough, or so it should have been.
But nothing with Thrawn is ever truly simple. What begins as a quiet respite quickly becomes a landscape charged with unspoken tension, veiled secrets, and emotions Eli never meant to confront. Between Thrawn’s relentless observations, the moments that reveal more than they should, and the unsettling sense that he’s always standing on the brink of something important, Eli finds himself torn between frustration and a longing he can no longer ignore.
Here, where every detail feels weighted and every choice somehow matters, the ordinary takes on an unexpected sharpness. And Eli must decide whether to keep holding back… or risk seizing the moment before it slips away forever.
