  3. Summary

Aziraphale has gone to Heaven and Crowley has gone off the deep end. The former demon struggles to find meaning without his angel to gravitate around, the new archangel isn't at all used to having no-one but himself to rely on, and the Second Coming is... well, coming, however much Aziraphale tries to put it off. Crowley must learn to take care of himself, Aziraphale must solve everyone's problems, and they need to start talking again before the world ends (again). But what if Crowley finds he's actually all right on his own and Aziraphale gets exiled from Heaven for making the second worst mistake of his life, after the Christ has already returned to Earth? Can they fix the world and themselves when one has neither power nor memory, and the other, not enough information?

This story comes in three parts. Part one focuses on Crowley Dealing™️; plot comes slithering in about halfway. Aziraphale runs things in Heaven in part two, where the plot also picks up, and part three is the epic conclusion (with skippable smut!).

    Summary

Aziraphale and Crowley grew up together as next-door neighbours on Hogback Lane, classmates at the local Catholic school, and inseparable best friends. By the age of eighteen, both were hopelessly in love with the other, despite the knowledge that they were doomed to live apart, as Crowley aimed to pursue university study in London and Aziraphale committed himself to remaining in Tadfield, dedicating his life to the Church.

After almost twenty years spent away from his hometown, renowned botanist Crowley decides to come and visit Tadfield again at a moment's notice; the purpose of his visit is to speak at a Careers Day for the school he and Aziraphale, now a beloved priest and a frequent helper at the school, attended. The twenty-four hours that follow will change both of their lives for ever.

    Summary

The humans were curious about him, Crowley knew that. Who wouldn’t be? Man-shaped thing shows up on your local pub's doorstep, mute, scowling, and desperate, takes up residence in its worst room for months, drinks about four bottles of whiskey a day, doesn’t eat a damned thing, and yet refuses to die - you’d be curious too, wouldn’t you?

Sometimes he’d overhear them whispering about him, staff and customers alike.

“Is that another bottle?” One lady would mutter disapprovingly.

“Heartbreaking to see someone waste away their life like that,” sighed a woman to her partner.

“Why’s he wearing sunglasses inside?” A kid asked his dad, tugging on the man’s sleeve.

“Do you mind if I take this seat?” Asked a man at Crowley’s elbow.

He turned to look at the newcomer. He was smiling widely, his eyes crinkling at the corners. The man’s nose was slightly upturned and his hair a crown of ruffled white curls.

OR: After resorting to extreme measures to avert the apocalypse, a very miserable Crowley retreats to somewhere close to his heart and drowns his sorrows for months until his wallowing is interrupted by a mysterious stranger who knows more than he ought to and simply won't shut up.

Theorises really interestingly about... stuff. And things. My brain is all spinny. I think I commented on every chapter but one or two, which basically never happens. The ending, although fitting in perfectly, came completely out of left field.

Absolute poetry. Makes my brain buzz. So tangy and sweet. I wish I could write like this.
