None of them intend for genuine feelings to blossom between them, yet fate seems to have other ideas.

Summary
It was surprisingly easy to raise his gun at Yuno and aim it at the Diary sitting in her pocket; it was easy to put his finger on the trigger, meet Yuno’s eyes for one last time, and pull.
'Trust me,' Akiteru's eyes seemed to whisper. 'Choose me, not her.'
And so Yukiteru did. Because it had always been clear that one of them had to die at the end. And so he did what he had always been supposed to do, since the first time Yuno killed someone in front of him without batting an eyelash.
And so Yuno dissolved into nothingness with one last call of his name.
Or: In the heat of the final battle, Yukiteru processes the words on Akise's phone just a bit quicker; quick enough to turn on Yuno in time to save Akise's life. A happy ending for Yukiteru and Akise, because they deserve it.
