Summary
Blood caked Sakura’s hands, her chakra reserves nearly gone. The sky was ash-gray, the battlefield a graveyard of corpses and broken weapons. Though far from the center, the distant screams of the Fourth Ninja War still rang in her ears.
Kaguya won.
Sakura crouched in a hidden cave, knees digging into stone, shielding her unconscious friends. Naruto wheezed, blood streaked his face, his bright eyes now dim. Sasuke was worse: cold, bloodied, a deep gash across his stomach. Sakura checked his pulse. Faint, but there.
An explosion rocked the cave. Dust rained down. She yanked them closer, bracing as more blasts shook the ground. Kaguya’s oppressive chakra was near.
Sakura’s mind reeled with burning tears. She felt helpless and Naruto weakly grabbed her wrist. “Sak–”
“Don’t talk,” she whispered, forcing calm.
Another explosion. The cave trembled harder. Rocks sealed the entrance. Naruto’s eyes stared blankly at the ceiling. Sasuke barely clung to life. Sakura held them, sobbing.
No.
She didn’t care what happened to her. Just don’t take them.
“No–!”
Rocks slammed her ribs.
And everything went black.
