"Just tell him you're a baker," Lain had said confidently over lunch, after Ethari mumbled his way through the story of how the most handsome elf he'd ever seen had asked him out at the weekly market. "No one wants to date a weapons smith; you'll scare him off."

And so when Runaan asks about his occupation the next day as they wait for their plate of moonberry surprise, Ethari blurts, "I'm a baker," without even meaning to.

"A baker, hm?" Runaan's lip twitches, sending Ethari's heart racing. Oh Moon above, he's not gonna make it through this date, is he? "How lovely. Should I be expecting a box of pastries next time, then?"

"Of course," Ethari responds giddily, before making a mental note to learn how to bake before next time. Before he can make any more impossible promises, he asks, "And what do you do?"

"I am"—Runaan pauses, perhaps to add some drama—"a librarian. Yes, I'm a librarian."

(or, Ethari receives some less-than-stellar dating advice before a first date and struggles to commit to the bit)

    Summary

Then, Soren did the most horrifying and exciting thing Corvus had ever seen: he grabbed the arms of Terry’s chair, turning it a rough 90 degrees to face him, then leaned in close and gave the elf a piece of his mind. At first, he wasn’t sure why it had shocked and bothered him so much. After all, it was just a display of (mostly) rightful anger.

And then, looking at Soren’s disgruntled face, hints of stubble, and eyes of blazing blue, Corvus understood. Soren... was fucking hot.

    Summary

What if Rayla was right, and killing Ezran couldn't have freed the assassins because they were bound to avenge a death that hadn't yet happened? Runaan wavers in his convictions and gathers the other assassins to her cause. He will have to learn to let Rayla forge her own path, as she will learn to step out of the shadows cast by all of her parents. These human princes show a level of honor and respect to the elves that the assassins are unused to, and both sides must question everything they were taught.

Note: major character death is in reference to King Harrow, who is not actually dead, but everyone in the story will believe that he is and it's narrated as such, so it's getting the warning anyways. No one else is going to die I promise.
