It was all Dick's fault. His fault. Not Jason's. Not Bruce's. His. He was too weak and too distracted and too stupid. Careless. All he wanted was to meet Jason's mother alone, to judge her character. He didn't expect this to happen.
Lying against the cold floor of the warehouse he thought he didn't deserve to be Nightwing. This was not what uncle Clark’s hero was. He certainly was no failure.
(Or: In Ethiopia, Dick gets Jason’s permission to meet Sheila alone. It obviously goes terribly wrong.)

He believes in rehabilitation, unafraid of ambiguity like the Bat is. Between old concrete and brick, Nightwing makes the city his home. Soon enough, Nightwing and Blüdhaven are one.
Eight months after the death of Blockbuster, Dick is still struggling to recover. As a natural disaster threatens to flood Blüdhaven's shores, he and Jason fight to rebuild.

Robin blinks once. He’s waiting for Nightwing to say literally anything else, but Nightwing just lounges on the giant stone creature, smiling like a fool.
“You’re insane.” Robin finally drawls. He steps out and sits down on the gargoyle. “You brought me to meet a gargoyle.”
Waving his finger in Robin’s face, Nightwing disagrees, “Uh uh uh, I brought you to meet Gary.”
